Just now, when everyone was kicked from the server again because of the end of the sale, it was yet another match whose outcome was lost.
With the feature already in the game, can I please be always notified of a server shutdown instead of only 1 in 10 times?

Better yet. Have it stop allowing launches at some point and wait for the current matches to end before taking the server down.

Press launch and you get a "Failed to launch due to Sun Spot activity" or something.

Actually, there was a scheduled announcement posted earlier this week about some "extended downtime" (though it lasted like 10 minutes instead of like 60 minutes).

The warning itself should be posted 15 minutes before intended downtime (the length of a match in the worst case scenario) and be repeated every minute or maybe 90 seconds (1.5 minutes). That way, people are reminded of the situation and to end their match ASAP within reason. Otherwise, that would be an unproductive alert.

Edit - Here's the link to the announcement that was posted in advance:

The feature is already in the game. And at some point, they even tweeted about imminent server shutdowns.
Apart from being alert on Tuesdays and Fridays, do I really have to check the announcements thread as well?

Really? You can't operate a watch? And then you complain about it because your precious W/L took a ginormous hit because of it?

It's not like these downtimes happen at random intervals, it's always the same day, at the same time.

I'd rather just have 15 mins of advance notice and not worry about it.

This is yet another thing that they COULD do to not piss off users, and yet completely ignore. Sure, its posted in advance, and sure its regular. But If youre online and playing you dont always stare at your watch or set an alarm. Maybe we could, but is it too much to ask that they notify using the system they already have in place more than 1 min before? Is that really to much to ask?

Yes, I mastered the art of watch reading. And when I try really hard, I can even understand the time displayed on a analog watch...
Today, I just forgot it was "End of Sale" day. So you can blame it on my memory.

Was it your 5th and final win needed to unlock the mech just before the promotion ended? I would be annoyed too.

Do they not have an in-game warning?

The last time I was unfortunate enough to be playing while they take down the server, there's a red text warning server going offline in a few minutes (or something similar).

That said they just put the warning way more in advance, maybe 5-10 minutes so you can decide not to launch another match.

AFAIK, there is one for in match... however it was like 1 minute until shutdown. Not sure about while you're in the mechlab though.

Anyone notice the change made to the account profile yet? Assuming this was part of the maintenance.

Now it displays all of your owned mechs in the game. At the top of the screen above the list of mechs, it shows which mech you currently have selected.

Neat feature.

15min lockout before server restart would give players a chance to finish their match...

I love the people who come in here and criticize the players for asking for a basic feature that you find in just about every server-based game.

Absolutely. If you aren't checking the announcements thread every day, transcribing the contents to your calendar and setting alarms for things like server maintenance, you are just a failure as a human being, and have nobody to but yourself. There's no reason a game should provide any kind of timely notifications to players within the actual game software.
