from the dev update post
I should say that it is logical that this next round of beta testers will likely be drawn from those early purchasers of the founders program; it only makes sense since they have shown such dedication and are quite likely to be excellent beta testers.

so with this comment we are enticed to buy a founders pack and not just to buy a founders pack but to do it sooner rather than later so you can get the better odds of getting into the closed beta access

ok so now im paying for sure for a better chance at early access and im fine with that
but now i need to ask if im paying how much time do i have over those who are not paying

from the dev update post
Come Aug 7th when the patrons of the Founder’s Program gain access, the game will still be in Closed Beta 2, with on-going patches added every 2 weeks; therefore, not every feature we have discussed on the web site will be playable. We expect to have each of the features we have announced and discussed on the website (with one exception), in the game by the Open Beta date (which cannot yet be announced other than Summer 2012).

there is something about these lines that bothers me
there are 2 reasons to buy the founders pack
1 the mech
2 early access
for me its being able to get in to beta early and and getting a cool mech the founders tag not so much
the the in game cash and paid account time are nice too
but for me its mainly early access to beta
for me i need to know how just how much time will pass for me paying possibly 60 or no less than 30 for early access and open beta those who will get in for free
for me im paying to get in early but why should i pay to get in early if i wait a few day or a few weeks then i can get in for free
so i see you cant get a exact time and im not asking for that but i would like you to ball park it if you can
1 week 3 weeks 5 weeks 2 months if this is to exact of a time then maybe you could say a few weeks or a month or so
im not asking you to tell me how big the window is but im hoping you can point in the general direction of the window
i just think if we are paying to get in the we should have some idea of how long we have before every one will be in

If you're only paying to get into Beta... it might not be a wise purchase for you. There is no announced timeline yet between Founder's getting in on August 7th, and open beta starting..If I had to guess, it'd probably be a couple weeks between August 7th, and the open beta start date. But, as I don't work for PGI....it's just that, a guess.

IMO, the big thing about this pack is that:

1. It's called "Founder's Pack" because you are providing capital at the start of the project. You are getting tags and other forms of recognition as PGI saying "This game is free, but we need money to make it successful and last. Thank you for doing so, and in return, we hope you find these perks useful."

2. It comes down to a simple fact that You can play the game for free indefinitely and miss out on "for paying customers only" features like this, and if you're fine with that, more power to ya. But in the event you don't like that, I wouldn't be able to sympathize with you because if we subjectively look at it, PGI can't do all this for FREE for everyone. They have to make money, and enticing players to make microtransactions is the name of the game. We can already be thankful for the fact that they said they would never sell power. They just sell convenience, recognition and customization.

Hopefully, aside from that, you'll get the details you're looking for tomorrow. ;)

im at least honest enough with my self and others to say this is why im spending the cash
lets face it betas just are not what thay use to be
the simple fact that im BUYING my way in DQs it as a beta true its still in a TESTING PHASE
but i remember a nobler time of beta testing where you were paid to be a beta tester by the game company not im paying the game company to be a beta tester
you went to a site applied and then waited you got a mail saying your invited to closed beta or you got in to open beta if there was one or you just bought the game on its release date
but giving 1 cent for a promised spot or a increased odds at getting in well thats something different
and i dont have a problem with it i just want more info on what im spending my money on at this point i feel more like im buying a service or a product not helping the company test it product
and yes this company will get my cash tomorrow but the answers thay provide will help me decide how much i spend on the founders pack
i hope thay provide me with good answers i would like to feel good about a 60 dollar purchase but if not at least thay weill get 30 witch still gets me a better chance into beta

I'm still not entirely sold on this game yet. after games like world of tanks and skyrim, mech warrior online has a lot to prove to me. obviously the standards of others differ greatly and I'm not here to dispute them, but for me personally I'm taking this one with caution ESPECIALLY since I loved (most of) the mech warrior games without even getting into my giant robot problem.

how would we be able to buy these Founders' Package?

Go read the fourms there are FAQ's EVERYWHERE.

And thats nice you want to get into beta. However Not all founders will.
They are going to pull SOME of the founders into the beta. there will still be server kickes later on.

Open beta will be the unofficial game launch. Thats why everyone gets the perks then.

I'm still gonna spend money on the product. but the Dev post reminds me of too many game devs doing pre-launch damage mitigation.

Well, the last day of summer (the season) is sept 22. and they said open beta is going to be in "Summer" (assuming it isn't pushed back)

as for questions. my main ones are;

Have we found out yet if we could get the veteran, then upgrade to elite later? (before launch of course)

Be able to wait to pick the founder mech until later in play experience? As in do you have to pick your founder mech when you buy the pack, or aug 7, or can you pick anytime in the future?

All I know is as soon as they Founders pack is available, I'm buying. I've spent waay too much on being able to play MechWarrior, to just not do so anymore.

Let's show our support and help them produce the best possible product they can, whether you decide to or not financially, that's your choice. But me? Oh I'm getting it, better hope you can get it while it's hot!

No where, it's the OP's assumption and you know what they say about assuming.

I'll be paying my $60 as well. I want the game to succeed, and become what I know it can be: the best Mechwarrior game to come out, and that can only happen if the Dev Team continues to get a paycheck every week. Of course, there are quite a few perks in the Founder's package, but I'm ready to pays my money tomorrow.

Getting into the beta early would only be a bonus.

It doesn't make sense to "draw from the early purchasers." MAYBE some of us, myself included, think it makes sense to reserve a small % of the outgoing beta invites for Founders pack purchasers in each beta wave, but that's being generous. The beta TEST is to test things other than willingness to spend money or even support the game in any conceivable fashion. Furthermore, why again is $60 worth it to get into the game a month early but the $80 worth of in-game currency and the free mech with perk isn't worth any money? No, but seriously, it doesn't actually make a good beta tester to love the genre.

Maybe it is so they can do a survey like thing....Hey, you are willing to spend money for the founders pack, now which of these items are you willing to spend that in game money on? :D

it could happen :D

its not a matter of if your gona spend the cash
most of us have already made that choice to get the founders pack my self included
and i hide no truths as to why im getting the founders pack the deves have left me little choice on that
i as most others do want in to beta
weather it be to help test the game
or give money to the company so thay can go buy servers
or to help them buys a party bus
frankly we dont know nor do most of us care
i just want to know what makes me different if im paying from those who are not
for me its not a mech or a fancy tag 80 buck of imaginary cash or free time on a premium account
the harsh truth is we want in to get a upper advantage on our fellow mech warriors we want to win and hay if we post a few bugs along the way glad to help
me i would just feel a lot better about the purchase if it were called a PRE-ORDER and NOT a CLOSED BETA

I thought spending $60 would have guaranteed a beta key. so just like a preorder, paying now, but have to still have to wait.
