When I first got this new Graphics card and Mobo, the game ran so smoothly. In fact I had set it all to VERY HIGH, then went into the profile manager and set everything to the highest most resource draining setting I could find. The game ran so smoothly - I could never get it to drop frames unless maybe overlooking a HUGE amount of LRM birage, in which case 50fps would be my lowest and worst case scenario.
However, one patch did the trick; now all I get is 40 frames in a fight, and not a nice 40 frames either - a stuttery 40 frames. I get 60fps on idle (Vsync on). I'm sick of dealing with this - I spent good money upgrading my machine, and now after one patch it has all been undone.
CPU - i5 Haswell 4670k
GPU - GTX 680 Lightning
Mobo - Z87-C Asus
There is nothing wrong with this build, at all. It runs every other game smoothly, and blitzed my old benchmarking software. Now it's just a hunk of c**p when it comes to MWO.
How many years has this game been out now? We're still experiencing user localized graphical issues with no end in sight.
Couple all that with the worst hit registration the world has ever seen, and you have yourself a cheesey game right here.
Yes, I'm aware this isn't across the board, but many other users are experiencing the same thing I am.It's very annoying - when ti is going to be fixed?

Why Does My Game Run Like This? - Very Annoying

the stutters are a recognised bug and are adressed by the tech team. ITs somewhere in PGIs newsletters.
Acutally this trend downwards in performance is why i stopped playing a good while ago. It was so laggy and stuttery that i couldnt perform anymore.Just recently i tried again and overclocked my machine, got a new GPU and now new hardware

Basically same regression as Rex Budman..if people have a less powerful system I'm sure they have quit this game already,
it's just to frustrating to play.Just wondering...when was the stuttering bug mentioned in the PGI newsletters and was any time frame for a fix given?
Since the last patch the game is barely playable.. avg. frame rate has dropped quite a bit and the stuttering is making the game almost unplayable..may have to move on..sad really.
No obvious response from the Dev's, gotta dig or subscribe to newsletters..communication is sporadic at best except for the sales pitches..too bad

Run the repair tool and clean things out. Also, set an Nvidia control panel profile for MWO up with the same settings as the Crysis 3 profile, and whatever setting is in there to save power or give maximum performance, choose maximum performance (I'm on my laptop right now, which is Radeon-based, so I can't recall the name of the setting). Finally, run the game in DX11. You should be good to go. I've got a 2600K @ 5GhZ on water and a GTX 660 Ti, averaging over 60FPS with everything on high (except textures, which are set to very high).

not sure about this statement here... running the game in dx11 is crippling most people unless they have a massively powerful system....
i was running at 60 fps avg with dx11 on it tanks to 30-40, set back to dx9 its anywhere from 40-70 and of course the ridiculous stuttering. MWO is a steady decline in performance there is absolutely no doubting that and PGI is seemingly doing nothing about it. or they have the worst communication to there "customers" ever. if i didnt know better id think we are still in alpha or beta testing....

DX9/DX11 Performance
After the release of the new engine drop with DX11 support we heard a number of reports of increased stuttering, we have tracked this issue down to a misconfiguration in the build, with some functionality that changed between engine drops. This was contributing to a number of shader cache misses that should now be resolved and this change will be live in the March 18th patch. We are still investigating the reports of Motion Blur being stuck on for some players and I hope to have more information for you in the weeks to come.
Another issue that was identified relating to performance, relates to the new turret code, we’ve identified some inefficiencies in how they are tracking/targeting Mechs and we are looking to make some optimizations to this code in an upcoming patch.
QA has been running various performance tests to help ensure that performance beyond the issues stated was not negatively impacted and other than the turrets and the stuttering already mentioned no loss of performance has been noted. This isn’t to say that there couldn’t still be issues, we know that performance is a very multi-faceted problem that can be impacted by many different factors from drivers to 3rd party apps like anti-virus software etc. If you feel performance is below par for you please drop by the patch feedback forum and submit your experience and we’ll continue to work with users having issues until we are confident that no major performance issues remain.
I can provide some good guidelines for improving performance based on recent profiling, as some of you may be aware modern engines remain sensitive to the number of draw calls issued per frame, more modern APIs such as Mantle and the upcoming DX12 are looking to provide tools for developers to help address this problem and allow developers to significantly increase the number of draw calls that can be used without negatively impacting performance.
This same issue remains true for MWO, the best way to reduce draw calls for MWO is to use the Shadows/Object Detail and Environment sliders in the advanced options and ensure they are at Medium or Low if you do not have a high end CPU. This provides the best trade-off of visual quality for performance if you have a slightly older CPU, and for CPUs that just meet the minimum spec you will struggle to get good performance with these sliders beyond the Low setting, the good news is the other sliders will likely impact your FPS less and have more noticeable impacts on visual quality.

Yes, and some people have had success with this method. Since the OP has a more powerful system than I have and did not mention going through these steps, it's at the very least worth attempting. I myself had low framerates when first switching to DX11, and now I average ~63FPS with a FPS high of 81 and a FPS low of 48 (after several tests on several maps in several mechs).

It's the game, not your system.. That will be all.

@xWiredX,
Set up Crysis 3 profile.
Changed to DX11.
Have to say this did improve overall framerate.
Still getting some major stuttering in game. Not as much and not as severe but still present.
Thanks for the assist.

I have been playing the game on a i5-2500k radeon 6870 and 16 gb ram with all settings on high except for object detail which is medium. I avg about 35 to 40 FPS. Also what stuttering are you guys talking about because I don't have any at all.

some get it and some don't, from what I can see.
I've cleaned out the game with the MWO repair tool and use the settings as instructed but just cant get it to stop.
i5 Haswell 3.4GHz 4670k
GTX680 Lightning
Z87-C Mobo
8GB 1600GHz RAM DDR3
The machine is more than capable of running the game et al.
I'll wait for the new patch I guess but I'm not holding my breath.
