Apparently my old LRM launchers aren't good enough for use with the Artemis fire control system. I need to buy them again to equip them on Arty enabled Mechs. What the ****? Who the **** designed this catastrophe of a UI?! I just spent half an hour figuring this out and don't actually have time to play a game anymore. Who makes a user interface so catastrophically bad that it takes half an hour to figure this out, because I can't just inventory my Mechs without a half dozen mouse clicks per Mech. Sweet Jesus I just wanted to load some LRMs on a 733P for shits and giggles but noooooo, the game doesn't WANT me to actually play it!

Well at least I can spin the Mechs around in the lab now...

PGI: I built a user interface layout manager for our WebGL enabled stuff this week (because Edge just plain sucks) with PIXI JS, let me know if you want it... It's fully scriptable and only breaks occasionally.

[edit]

This is apparently supposed to be how Artemis works now. Where the **** is my refund, then? How was this in any way a logical and good idea? Do the developers actually want us to play this game, or to just scratch our bloody eyes out?

Screw this I'm going to play Starbound. Getting hit in the face by a meteorite on permadeath mode at least has predictable results.

Hey got this last night since I haven'r tried srms for months. Answer, it seems so! I have 30+ srm6 but if its arty smrs6 only 2! So I have to pay 250k for the arty srms launchers. Nope! It is the same in ammo. I think a clan to be ready feature that screws us!

Actually this was communicated (more or less) and even tested on the PTS.

And for the higher prices on the launchers, the upgrade itself got really cheap. So you have to rebuy some of those launchers (yes, that hurts) but if you have some of each stock, switching between artemis/non-Artemis is much cheaper than before.

And to be true, it is the same mechanic as the Heatsinks...

Heh, if that is true then great! So if I install artimis, dont need to downgrade just buy ammo? If so cool.

You need a stock of all launchers. An example:

you want to build a catapult with LRMs. You need
  • 2x LRM15 (without artemis)
  • 6x LRM Ammo (just a number)

So you have to pay 880.360 C-bills (2x 350.000 for the launchers, 6x 30.060 for the ammo)

Now you go out and kill stuff. After some matches, you want Artemis. You need:
  • Artemis Upgrade
  • 2x A-LRM15 (with artemis)
  • 6x A-LRM Ammo
This will cost you 1.510.720 C-bills (2x 450.000 for the launchers, 6x 60.120 for the ammo, 250.000 for the Artemis Upgrade)

Now you strip your mech. You have in your inventory:
  • 2x LRM15
  • 2x A-LRM15
  • 6x LRM Ammo
  • 6x A-LRM Ammo
If you now think "meh, artemis isn't worth it" you can buy the Downgrade to non-Artemis (not sure, what that costs atm, I think it's around 100.000 or so).

Now you can equip your non-Artemis launchers and the fitting ammo for no extra costs.
And if you want Artemis back because you can't decide then you only have to pay 250.000 for the upgrade instead of 750.000 like before.

This is the same for SRM launchers and srm ammo.

It is a pain at first, but when you have a little stock of everything, switching to artemis and back isn't that costly anymore.

Thing is half of those LRM launchers have been sitting on Artemis equipped Mechs for the majority of their life time, yet since I now strip Mechs I don't use (so I don't accidentally drop into a match with half a loadout or something, and so I know EXACTLY where my items are) those launchers now count as non Artemis equipped.

Here's a ******* bright idea: Instead of ******** around on players and forcing them to sink c-bills, why not just make the upgrade cheaper the second time it's bought on the same chassis. A nominal service charge would apply. Oh look all your problems are solved! Unless, of course, changing the upgrade price for a player on a chassis is not within their backend's capability. We'll pretend that *that* is not the case.

PGI once again pushed ahead with utter bollockery that makes no bloody sense what. So. Ever.

Bravo chaps.
