NOTE¨- I can´t take credit for the techniques below which learned from the forums of our Brothers in the flight sim community , thanks guys !
Here is the completed Weapons Panel.
and the back
How to
These are in fact very easy to make.
1) deign your panel in Photoshop or other drawing program I used CoalDraw 6 which you can download for a free 30 try out which is more than enough to get all your panels done.
2) Print your panel. I used normal paper for mine.
3) Laminate it. I did mine on a small home lamination machine , cost less that 30 Euros. Trim the Lamination very close to the panel edge but leave enough to keep the edges of the panel sealed.
4) cut a backing board to the same size as your panel. I used what we call hard board (fiber board ? ). Next go around all the edges of your back board with a black felt tip pen (sharpie ?) all the edges and about 1 CM in on the face. This help to bend in the panel with its backing board, hiding the edges and is much easier to do now than later.
5) Glue the laminated panel to the backing board , leaving it pressed under a pile of books over night.
6) Drilling the holes. I found if you use a slow drill and a large bit to start with it rips the lamination and ruins the panel.
Instead I used a very high speed drill and stated with a 1mm drill and worked up though each drill size till I got to the 12mm I needed for these switches. This does not seem to rip the lamination any were near as badly.
7) install your switches and you are done.
I will be makes a few more of these cover other functions of the game and them I will build the pit
Kind Regards
