Seeing a lot better mix of weapons now. A little more variety of weapons used, and a variety of different weapons mounted on the same mech. Good.

No particular weapons stood out to me as being over powered.

Pulse lasers could still use a slight range buff I think. (I know they got one. They ought not to suffer on range. . . just tonnage and heat.)

Not a lot of SRMs in use. Something needs to be done to make them more worthwhile. Is it still hit registration?

Overall, the single biggest balance/gameplay problem right now is too many light mechs on the battlefield. They turn the game into HALO instead of big-stompy robot combat. They really need to be toned down in some way. Make light mechs more useful as spotters/scouts/cappers. . . and less useful as circle-strafers.

you'll see a lot of lights right now because they just released the firestarter for cbills this week.

THe new UI needs work in a few areas but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Glad you're enjoying it. I agree taht they need some more scenarios and things that let lights be useful for more than low tonnage with weapons.

I'm still confused that people have a problem with SRMs. They work fine for me and in fact are still one of my highest damage weapons when in use. Admittedly I almost always chainfire and I've heard (hearsay incoming, duuuuck) that the issue is actually with simultaneous missile strikes.

Beyond that and people's 'meta of the month' mindset it's pretty balanced compared to 6 months or a year ago.

Balance is better than it was 6 months ago, so what the OP is describing about weapon variety isn't too far off mark.

Pretty much. SRMs still can't register a hit on the broad side of a barn... from inside. It's sad, because the absolute most fun I've had in this game is still playing fast SRM brawlers like my cent-A.

Things are still stupid. Sniper meta still reigns supreme. So we just have to embrace it until they change things for the more interesting and better.

I tried to run only brawlers the whole last week. AC20's not registering 50% of the time, SRM's doing nothing, not to mention the close range I have to get in that setup while even my own teammates favor the 500 meter meta. Beaten, angry and disappointed I went back to my poptarts and lazorboats running only AC2/5/UAC/gauss and ML/LL/ERLL/PPC/ERPPC. Getting BORED.
