It's mainly the lack of cohesion and the general randomness. You really can't count on random teammates to stick with you when things get hot and heavy. I think that fact alone is why the "PUGer" gets a bad rap.

I just dislike micro purchases....
Yes the good are physically intangible but in all reality, buying something in MW:O is like buying a blister for 40k. The special pre-release packs like the Clan collection are just battlepacks.
I get where you're coming from on here mechs though, but apart from the cbill bonus there isn't anything that's advantageous.

This is my second account, I scrapped the last one cause I was bored with the same old mechs, playing thousands of games just to scrape enough money together to finally buy an assault mech cause I didn't pay money towards a free game.
Also I don't make friends online, online is purely for my gaming entertainment.
Im PUG, and Im here to stay!

First off, welcome back and nice to have you on board. Enjoy your stay!
Second, no, we the mwo community do not hate pugs, because we are no collective mind and your generalization is inappropriate.
But let me put it this way. If all players were like you:
This game would not exsist and you had nothing to stay at!
This game does exsist because team oriented players did fund and pay the developers to get a multiplayer Mechwarrior and enjoy cooperative mech combat forming units and communities!
Yet a few ignorant pugs started to rant loud enough PGI did fell for them and made alterations to the game that were about to kill teamplay and did inhibit community build up that is needed for CW and so on.
Understandably those team oriented players that did fund and pay for a team oriented multiplayer Mechwarrior title were not amused about some crying freeloaders destroying all that.
Maybe now you understand the situation a bit better. And understand why it is important for PGI to promote teamplay and listen to the team oriented players instead of the pugs.
Best regards and Gut Schuß!

I pug sometimes, mostly because I am new, and none of the exp'd players will listen to me anyway. I do chat, if someone responds. The main reason most of the 'PUGers' pug in the first place is because most of the obviously exp'd players will talk to a 'noob'.
Or openly begin to trash 'noobs' when one asks a question.
The comments about paying/not paying only make new players skeptical about paying anything. These should be kept out of in game time, and reserved for the forums.
The best example I can give, is that I prefer to scout in my newbie light firestarter. I will find the enemies with my eagle eyes ( and the fact that my game is played on my 37 inch tv as a monitor ) and call out the grid locations to the obviously exp'd players.
And they ignore it.
Then complain when they walk right into it.
Then blame it on the 'noobs' and/or pugers. In chat.
Sometimes people don't feel like talking. That should be fine.
They stay solo, only caring for themselves when more experienced players (exp'd) start throwing out slants at them or ridiculing them for asking beginner questions in the middle of a game.
Yeah, so what if there is a forum post covering the topic. If you know the dadblasted answer, and can spare a moment, answer them, DUH.
Hell, I have answered several that I have learned playing and reading MWOMercs Forum and NGNG Forum.
And I have only been playing about 2 weeks.
That is how you build a community game.
In the game, not on the forums.
Afterall, why would anyone bother to come here other to complain when they see all of us that use the forums to be part of the community as sanctimonious #/({s .
Just saying as a 'noob' that if you want people to start listening, and to join the community and come to the forum, you should treat everyone with respect in the game. Not just on the forum where it is easier to prove if someone is hating.
