After thinking how to make sure I'm not crazy I just looked up a google-docs sheet I use for my stats and also (more or less) to track buying/selling mechs: I bought and sold my -5K on January 18th (using the XP from the trial). At the same day I bought the -5V, sold it on January 24th (did not note if it was the same mechbay, or using two mechbays.
I only bought the -5D on February 8th, and it is now 5000XP into Mastery, with the Master option being available.

So I would regard it as confirmed that you only need 1 at a time.

I'm not sure if I read it first or just tried myself. I previously referred to this thread:
http://mwomercs.com/...cies-explained/
But couldn't find any hint there

This may even be true if it's the first mech in a weight class. But I cannot tell because I always used (or still will for Assaults) the first chassis to unlock master in parallel.

One other thing I noticed since UI2.0came out: it seems like the Convert XP button isn't locked anymore before completing the basics. Not sure if this is intentional.

Welp, looks like I may need to make an alt-account to experiment. :)

A new player could try and report on it.

I'd test, but it's virtually impossible for me. I'm not selling 92 mechs for a test. :)

I'm testing now - what was the code for the one day of premium time?

(Got tired of trying to compete for the hunchbacks )

Edit: WOW it feels weird to actually have an alt account

Happy Holidays. But don't think it works. The premium time download thingy is there. There's also the penny arcade one.

http://mwomercs.com/pennyarcade

See if that gives a premium day.

I meant the one in Redshifts sig - found it though :)

Any suggestions on which mech I buy?
(or anyone want to bodyguard me as I do it?)

Probably use a light mech - or a cheap medium.

Champion Dragon is a LOT more fun than I expected :)

But as a Centurion pilot I guess I shoulda seen that coming.....

....nose still bugs me though.
(the fact that it is visible)

I may for a few rounds, but it's more or less bedtime here, at least at my age :)

Yeah the angle of the Dragon's belly is actually not quite 'there' enough to be ~that~ visible.

But yeah the Dragon is quite capable. For anyone wondering, here's my last run with it.

4 kills, 3 assists, 305 damage.

Capable and disliked... would be right up my ally if not for that nose.
(I could live with the hitboxes - its the visibility that drives me nuts - similar issues with the Stalker - though that one is really only there for Heat Vision)

About the next trial mech?
I don't think I like the Spider so much - which is weird cause I like my Locust......

(only ONE more post... gotta get those matches done!)

Wider field of view could help get around the nose. Jumping on now.

Seriously looking at the Dragon for mastery - Locust sounds nice - but wouldn't make as impressive of screenshots (Yeah I know, low priority) and at 5 million a pop I could afford that.... (forgoing upgrades at first of course, but since I will be selling them....hmmm)

Or perhaps just working through the Centurion again since that was what people got for free..... (though the thought of buying and selling the -D..... /HUGE_SHUDDER_OF_HORROR)

And almost done with the Recruit phase!

Assuming you are at least partially joking....

No - because you only need 3 Cicadas to unlock the [Elite] if that is unlocked - you are safe with selling it.

You will need 3 of the weight class with all [Elite] (in this case medium) unlocked to unlock [Master] - but you could use any 3 medium that have all the [Elite] unlocked to do that

Cicada is my one, and likely only medium. (till we get bushwhackers and shadowcats ofc :3) Only grinding it so i can be a ppc tard with the 3M. The X5 is for bullying lights.

Then yeah, you are going to need to rebuy them. :P

On the bright side at least they weren't as expensive as most mechs! :)

OK, im still waiting for my gaming comp to arrive because this one is garbage and still have a confused look in my eyes <_<.

so let me see if i get this before i start matches:

:: i play my trial mech for 25 matches. i then purchase three jenners D,K,F. I basic them all, then elite them all and master one. then if i wanted, sell them all and now i want to master a spider. i only need to basic three different spiders to unlock master on one spider??? or do i need to elite that one spider? or elite three spiders before master??

thanks for any replies..

Welcome to the game!

Those three Jenners will carry eachother all the way up (that is the easy bit isn't it though)

Three Spiders with finished [Basic] are required to unlock [Elite] for Spiders
- but any three light mechs with finished [Elite] will unlock [Master] for all Lights
(Still testing this!)

So either:
Your unlocked [Master] through the Jenner's will count for the Spiders (Even though you sold them)
OR
You will need to own three lights (re-buying the Jenner, or working up through the spiders) for it to unlock [Master] for the Spiders.

Current running theory is that ownership is not required - just having it unlocked once works, but there is some room for interpretational error.
(hence the testing)

Update: Hunchback test is done -owning only one at any time, and [Elite] level is unlocked
