I am re-downloading this game after playing hawken a little.
I am a vet of all the old mechwarrior games and was very dissappointed when this game was not a coop campaign based game as it seemed was originally planned.

I am happy to purchase stuff. But before I do I want to know how likely the infantry and other vehicles are to get out of concept stage?

Can I expect story based coop missions with tanks, elementals, air power and most importantly infantry any time soon or is there any guarantee at all?

P.S. What is with all this not being able to post much here? Is there some sort of spam problem?

Hi And welcome back.

Weeeel can't lie to you the campaign features you (& most of us) are waiting on are still waiting in the wings but are apparently getting closer under the banner "Community Warfare" or CW on these forums. The new (and still currently confusing) UI was needed before serious work could be done on some of the elements for that you see.

Infantry? Tanks etc? Nope not yet, nearest we have is an early test iteration of Defensive turrets on a couple of maps, but I wouldn't rule out AI combat vehicles yet either. Air power is lamely represented with the ability to call in an air strike with a special purchasable module. All in all not much of what your looking for yet but mucho promiso so have a look and see. The Mech to mech combat IS good in my opinion.

Also you have picked a good time to come back. Win 5 matches before next Tuesday and they are GIVING away a Medium Mech and a Mech bay... Also after downloading claim your free day of Premium time. They gave away a week of it over Christmas new year with the gift code HAPPYHOLIDAYS but I am not sure if that is still valid legal to use..

Still come back take a look around and claim what freebies you can for later at the very least. And if thats a brand new account you first 25 matches will have supercharged earnings too, make the most of them ;)

Oh and the forum post thing is an anti spam / sock puppet thingy after you have played a few matches your posting abilities are released.

Thanks for the great reply.

What does premium time get me? The game is free right to play anytime I want?

Yes, free to play. Anytime you want.
Log in and play.

Premium Time gives you an C-Bill and XP boost of 50% each.
Means:
if you earn in a fight 100.000 C-Bills you get + 50.000 C-Bills with Premium - summary 150.000 C-Bills for that round.

The game is much more of a FP Shooter, infantry / tanks / NPC combat assets are unlikely, certainly nothing talked about in recent months.

There are no plans for vehicles, story modes, or that kind of stuff. No plans for aerospace, elementals, or anything other than battlemechs.

We DO now have automated turrets in Assault mode on some maps, but no mobile objects.

The big plans coming down the production pipeline include Clan Mechs, community warfare (fighting over planetary control), assymetrical attack/defend game mode, but no single player.

I don't necessarily care about single player as long as the game has something less bland than mech vs mech combat deathmatch style. I need to feel like there is a scale contrast and an army fighting. I don't like tiny maps with no objectives. This feels like a game has no character and no soul. Feels like fighting for the sake of.it

now it says in the upcoming features list that npc infantry, air and tanks etc are at cconcept stage.
i am trying to guage how serious the devs are about this. Otherwise i may as well go play titan fall.
which seems like a cheap console shooter but at least it puts the combat suits into a role and an army.

PGI is serious about planning many additional features for MWO. However, there are no/unrealistic deadlines on most of them, and we honestly do not know which will end up as empty propaganda. If you decide to buy stuff, you will be better served accepting the game for what it is. Community Warfare is only now being worked on, and it will take a while before actually being a thing in MWO.

Currently there's mech versus mech versus air strikes versus artillery bombardment versus turrets.

I think turrets are a step closer to the possibility. I've given suggestions of infantry, battle armor and tank call downs (like the strike modules, be able to call down such things to be delivered which can keep enemies busy for a while).

This is the closest thing you'll get to that with this game though. Here's what the "plan" is.

For what was missed in the recording...
"Lone Wolf" essentially got called Mercenary (you'll work for anyone). Faction players got called "Loyalist." Guild-style Mercenaries referred to as "Unit life."

This is mostly what you'll get.
