Apparently the new (or returning) metagame in town is bad hit detection--no, horribly bad hit detection. The past two weeks have been some of the worst hit detection I've seen all summer long approaching over 50%+ not counting again. Sometimes I'll shoot an assault mech four times in a row and damage doesn't register.

So... how bad is it for everyone else?

Vote!

Only time I notice a real issue is when I notice mechs start teleporting.

Really depends on the weapon. Almost all ballistics and PPCs work fine. Lasers need a big lead time even at 60-80 ping for me, or they do very little damage. SSRMs and LRMs feel ok. SRMs are so bad I would be amazed if I were averaging upwards of .75damage/missile.

You see, the problem is that PGI "fixed" weapon balancing. I feel like PGI codes 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Without being super scientific I think around 85 or 90 percent of my shots land that appear they should. Could be more or less in actuality, but 1 in 10 not registering is about right.

It depends on the robot for me.

Atlai and Awesomes? Hunchbacks and Catapults? Cataphracts? No problem.

Spiders and Ravens? Centurions and Kintaros... not so lucky there....

When driving a light (deaths knell, spider 5d/5v, locust) and shooting fatties from behind, I'm noticing that if I hit while the paper doll is still flashing, the hit doesn't register. If I time the shots to allow the paper doll to stop flashing, I can open 'em up a lot quicker.

Typical area of focus is the small of the back/booty crack since it's CT every time.

my ping is usually around 35, my problems seem to be with AC/20s, SRMs, and PPCs, or perhaps they are just more noticeable

I live on the West Coast of the US, and my ping is around 100-120ms with a 30meg cable internet connection.

I played a game where all 6 of my AC/20 impacts scored no damage on an enemy Spider that was dancing around me; he killed me and walked away with 100% health according to my targeting info, despite 6 direct hits with AC/20 within 200m. Hit registration is abysmal with fast targets that are moving sideways relative to me. Heck, I even landed numerous AC/10 and PPC shots that didn't register against a Kintaro that was moving sideways relative to me. That was depressing ;)

PPC's seem to mess up for me alot, i will shoot at a Mid-range see it smack the chest of some mech and no damage but then i get back a liitle more and it looks like the PPC'***** behind the mech but it registers, I switched to erLLas and never had a issue after that.

Spiders and SRMs. Otherwise, pretty good.

I live on the west coast as well, ping hovers between 75 and 90. This week I've been playing around with dual PPC 1 gauss battlemasters.

One spider 5d overheated about 200 M in front of me. I came to a full stop and alphaed into his CT rear. Doll flashed, and he went to 99%. I immediately went in search of more kill able prey. Any spiders with 150+ ping are not worth the trouble for me.

For the most part I have no issues with ballistics but of late my erppcs haven't been hitting or when they do the do no damage even at optimal range, I shot a raven in the front torso 9 times with the first 8 no registering and the last killing in a single blow. But my big complaint is not registering being hit by things and still taking damage, getting shot by a gauss and there being no hit indication other than all of the sudden you have no armor in your ct.

I have problems with SRM's not doing damage, odd occasions where i'll shoot with AC5's and they do no damage.. other than that my hit issues seems to be with fast moving targets, 117ms playing from the UK (strangely i have a high ping in MWO to be honest, considering i play other games on US servers and have a ping of 60-70ms).

One hit detection problem i have serious issues with, is my 'mech taking damage but i get no audio cue of being hit, no screen shake, and no red border flash. I just suddenly get betty screaming i have critical damage and i'm like huh? from what?

When ever I get problems with hit detection is when the red "box/arrow" of the enemy is starting to flash. I make like 50% less damage while the target is at a range of 150m, even when I alpha up close.

I`d say across the board of weapons systems and targets 95% or more do appear to register properly for me (a miss on a miss is also properly registered :) ).... It`s really only when using SRMs (which we KNOW have an ongoing issue and have 2.0 dmg/missile to compensate as the community voted for) that I really notice much.

I`ve had the same issue as Belphegore, though.. suddenly Betty is screamin at the top of her lungs about this being gone and that being gone and half the mech lying 50 feet back and OMGTHESYKYISFALLING!!!!! (J/K, I love Betty just the way she is.), And then I`m like "WTF?? Did those {Surat} forget to use lockwashers and Loctite again, or is somebody actually shooting at me? 0.o"
