The default is C:\Games\pirahna games\mechwarrior online, correct? I never put games on my C: drive; they are all on my D: drive. I'm just funny that way.

I pointed the installer to D:\, but it sorta freaked out and didn't want to install in a directory that was "in use." Do I make a D:\Mechwarrior Online or D:\pirahna games\mechwarrior online?

Hoping someone is around who can help, so I can install this tonight.

Peace!

I think you need to be a little more specific about how it "freaked out". Generally pointing to a new directory is fine.

The chosen location is already in use. It is strongly advised to only use an empty folder as the install location.

This is especially true if you have already installed MechWarrior Online in the chosen location, as multiple installs will likely overwrite or corrupt each other.

Are you certain you want to use this unadvised install location?

That is the warning I get if I use "D:\". That is why I asked if I should instead use D:\MechWarrior Online or D:\pirahna games\mechwarrior online.

Will having the game somewhere other than the default location cause problems later?

Just in case it causes problems, there is also the repair tool, and you can contact support. Just in case for anything. I think it should be fine in a different directory. I installed to the Desktop I believe for easy to access usage.

Just make a d:\games\MWO so it doesn't try to dump the installed files into the root D:

The installer is freaked out by its own voice. It has no problem installing in that "in use" directory.

Uninstall and reinstall -- trust me...

If you try to move or whatnot, the registry gets messed up and you screw up further patches / installations and it requires to go through the registry looking for MWO / PGI / Pirahna and deleting everything manually for about 1.5 hours....

:D

Don't do what I did...

Uninstall and reinstall in the custom directory!! :D

I put mine in a custom directory.. c:/games/pirahna

All good.

I've installed MWO on an alternate drive with no problems at all.
C for the OS
D for the games
SSDs for the win.
