Its annoying enough having the unwise option of being able to unlock mech traits with GXP but the window actually changes to:
'Do you want to unlock X with GXP'
Rather than making it clear you may unlock it with mech XP instead.
I am a little salty that I've spent half my GXP in one accident* on a mech trait but it is unclear for new players and DOES take ages to get GXP.
*Had 49xx GXP saved up and managed to spend a chunk of it when I was a few mechexp points short of a trait.
As many people have said before, UI 2.0 is still shit. Slightly less shit -but still shit.
Before people say "Durr hurr don't say anything until you think of a better solution",
1) I would if I got paid for my time,
2) many people who are kinder than me have suggested UI improvements in the corresponding thread /Rant.

Surprisingly... I know a lot of lazy people who use GXP to level up mechs. ;p
I shocked to find out that the same person used MC to buy standard variants of mech so, he could master the chassis 1 week before everyone could buy the standards with Cbills.. !

Minor complaint, but valid nonetheless.
I have many times hesitated when the spend XP window popped up. The distinction between spending Mech XP and GXP are almost non-existent, bar the small wording. If I were a new player I wouldn't even know what the difference is.
This UI has so many things needing improved.

If they simply used the GXP icon if it is prompting you to spend GXP, people would produce the proper reaction.
Sometimes, the little things add up.

It does this when you don't have enough XP. So it skips the XP or GXP dialog where you can choos to unlock using XP or GXP.
It might be better to show the usual XP or GXP dialog but with the XP option greyed out and the GXP option selected. That way, it'd be more obvious you don't have enough XP.
What's more suspicious is when you click 'Buy' in store and the dialog gives you the option to spend MC or CBills and the MC is chosen by default. That's just a money grab designed to trick you into spending MC on 'mechs by accident (I'd bet more than 95% of 'mech sales are CBills so the more sensible default is CBills).

Funny... I just read this topic and not fifteen minutes later I find myself accidentally using GXP to buy an efficiency on that free centurion after incorrectly adding up the costs of my desired efficiencies in my head. 1500 GXP wasted on something mundane. If I'm going to waste my GXP on worthless junk (like hill climb) I at least want to do it on purpose.

Maybe a bunch of people here are suffering from 'Grinding Burnout'.... Grind grind grind... Click.. Next.. Click... Next... GXP spent.. OOOPPPSS !!
Anyway... This not so, bad still... Yah they should have shown MECH XP option are grayed out or something instead of removing it totally when you don't have enough.
The default to MC when purchasing mechs like some said above is far more scarier.

Don't get me wrong I like and enjoy the F2P model -I've thrown £50+ at League of Legends cause its in my opinion, worth my cash.
Mechwarrior doesn't get any of it until they step the game up in all aspects.
Especially worrying is the fact they don't seem to acknowledge the problem (the reply to the high resolution/small text thread).
