Who cares about MC? You can just buy some anyway. Doesn't matter.

Doubt I will come anywhere close to ranking, why not though. I planned to play a lot this weekend anyway.
Hopefully this will somewhat decrease the number of assaults and lights in all the matches.

Will try for lights as well, but i think the Firestarter will dominate this too much.

Until that is of course they make a Team Tournament that actually encourages the main theme of the game, teamwork.
That alone would be a far superior tournament.
I can agree the gesture is nice, but they haven't changed the formula since the first one and it was bad then. Still bad now. At least then Elo was an excuse to get everyone to play solo.

Also, I know the Wolverine is not represented because only the Saber Pack purchasers benefit.
It would actually make sense to release Wolverines and add them to the tourney... as there's no real restrictions outside of simply "enabling them" (and putting the correct value in C-bills/MC for them).
It feels odd that one mech isn't represented...
Meh, no loss if Wolverines are counted.

On another subject chess has used an elo system for awhile, may have been first. They award "class" prizes based on ratings of the players. Even in small tournaments players on the low end can win something. And by the way you still get the mismatch. I was paired with a IGM in a tournament first round last year. But those games are the best mainly because you can smooze with the GM after the game and he can make suggestions on how to improve.

I must point out: Aggressively Kill Steal
It's a game of 12 v 12, and currently Inner Sphere only. Who gives a rats pooper about "Kill Stealing"? What are you playing DAoC? You gonna throw a temper tantrum if someone gets the killing shot on a mech you were shooting?
That's just about the saddest thing I've read lately on here, and that's saying A LOT! I really doubt someone is working at NOT shooting mechs until they have a shot lined up they KNOW is going to kill one.
Summary: Get over yourself princess

just play one round with every chassis/weight class and do nothing. You will show up in the ranking with 0 points so you will always be the last guy at the end of the board.
(Ok, if 10 guys do this you have a little blur on the exact number but that is a minor problem imho).
This will only tell you how many people opted into the tournament. I guarantee you that most people who play this game will not opt in.
