The boxed set new and old is great. The new one with the improved minis AND Battlemaster mini (yeah and a clan mechí ½í±Ž) makes it damn near perfect. I have the first run of the set and will get the newer one as well. Its a stand alone game just by itself. You dont need to buy anything else, EVER. But you will want too. Brilliant.

You will want to buy more, but Catalyst sure make it difficult. I'm in the UK and you can't get the physical copies of the rule books anywhere. (not a huge fan of PDFs on tablets, don't own a tablet anyways) I know these books are out of stock everywhere. The Catalyst site also has a blog about how they''re out of print but no update or ETA of when these books will be available. It's a shame really as you would think that people may want to get into the game proper after playing the Intro Box set.
Saying that, I had a lot of fun with the intro box set, it's enough to last you and your friends for many many games. I just want to move into the RPG side with more vehicles and aircraft ect. One day!

. They have a good selection, but Total Warfare and A time of War are missing. They tend to be out of stock most places that I've found. Even going to my local game store and going through the distributor ''Esdevium'' these books were no longer listed on their catalogues. Everything else Battletech was. Just no core rules.

damm, have you tried ral partha euorpe? they sell quite a few of the books and total warefare is up their for £11.48 at the moment.

Buy the pdf from Catalyst of what you want, then take it to any quick printer, kinkos or whatever, and they can print it however you like. You can leave out the fluff and hobby sections and just print the rules that you need for play. Total warefare IS a great book. Its got ALL the rules for infantry, boats, tanks, planes, helicopters. Lots of tables for creating battles. Its a great buy.
