lol, it has to do with the "expanding brackets" they use.

I really think MM fills team A, and then trys to counter it with a team B. thats how 3 premades end up against one, and trial mech pugs. Its how you cn wreck face, and then MM uses you to "average" out the team, and how trial (C) mechs end up with you.

Not sure how it all goes, but I do find it odd to have matches where MM cant even find a trial noob to fill the 12th slot sometimes. makes me worry there arent even enough players online to find ONE during that 60 second countdown. I also think it places ELo higher then tonnage, but then that method totally flunks out when it cant find ANY player, and just chucks in whatever. I think thats where the 7 assaults vs one Victor comes in.

Just roll with it and laugh. I like to troll the enemy in those kinds of matches if I am playing something thats fits the bill.

Yeah, sometimes MM can be very fickle. One minute, you've got some great matches, with some nail-biters, & the next thing you know, you get pitted up against a company of elite rapists, & your team end up being their victims.

Needless to say, if I'm ever in a situation that I'm going to be up against such people, I bail right out unless I can come up with a way to take at least one of them with me, so that I can feel fulfilled. Call me a cowardly pilot, if you will, but facing off against multiple of these elite rapists by your lonesome is the equivalent of taking a Kamehameha to the face.

Yep. It's often quite visible- the first team is relatively close ELO-wise, the second is scraped together from less-then-good players mixed with better ones.

The result is a "stomp" team and a "stompee" team more often than not, and you can usually easily tell by the start screen.

Final enemy tally: 4 Assaults, 5 Heavies, 2 Mediums, 1 Light.
My team: 2 Heavies (both Dragons), 7 Mediums, 3 Lights.

That's fantastic. I love those matches, regardless which side I'm on.

Played a match a while back where my team ended up with a full lance of boomjagers (i was one of them). I of course took company command and put us all in one lance, and we rolled around like an army of murdertoasters, focus-firing like in closed beta when matches were dominated by Napoleonic line tactics. The chat was a giant column of:
"what the christ"
"ow"
"what just happened"
"so many jagers"

The other team had a lot of mediums that all popped like zits.

I've been in games like mentioned above when the red team only had one Heavy mech and the rest where medium or light.
Ive also been in those very light mech teams and have owned the opponents heavier company.

I think it really depends more on the players involved. Give me experienced players over tonnage thanks MM.

I laughed yesterday to find I have a better win ratio on my hated maps than the ones i like :D

SHAMEFULLL DISPLAY to the team that loses 0-12 ;)

Matchmaker has its up an downs. Yesterday I (#10 Cicada, latest turnament) in a premade with at least one med-high elo player ended up on same team as a premade with the winner of the assault class, the winner of the assault class in the tournaments last year + two other good players. Map: Forest Colony, Mode: Assault, Result: 12-0.

Next match, Eglar on other team, Terra Therma, Conquest, nailbiter to the end with result 750-740ish.
