As it stands - the MM totally ignores mech classes, but players have a seperate Elo for each class.
By that logic - on average - the medium & to a lesser degree light pilots are the most skilled in any given match.
Since the mechs themselves are sub-par, if one's W/L is the same with a medium as someone else's with an assault, they're undoubtedly a superior pilot. (with enough matches - law of large numbers cancels out other factors)
(admittedly - since no one knows their elo - my theory is theoretical - but sound based upon the assumption that heavies / assault mechs are superior to mediums / lights)
Class restrictions will change that - as a medium pilot isn't being balanced out by a heavy or an assault on the opposing team.
On the other hand - since both teams will have even numbers of each class - the elo won't be changed quickly, but only as new players come into the game playing those classes.
Anyone else have any theories on the effects of class restrictions on elo?

My theory is that mech size doesn't make a good pilot and it won't make you win more games .
Do you know how many times i saw 6 lights kill 6 assaults?
WE have huge match maker problems because good players end up beeing on the same team .
