So i got the thing last weekend, and as luck would have it, i had just saved enough cash to buy my Jager DD, so i have an XL-260 laying around now.. I was playing around with this, and figured i would post it to see what others thought..

(side question, the Jager comes with FF armor, and Not endo, This seems odd, wouldn't it be wise to swap it?)

anyways, this is the cent i was thinking.. the idea is a Light mech hunter, with a bit of fire power for close range hit and run on damage targets.. It also Packs a good amount of AMS, as i had extra weight to use up, instead of going with the LBX10.

Yes, very wise, you get more savings with Endo first. The stock variants are all pretty bad and not really meant to be good in MWO, they were meant for the board game.

As for your variant, the loadout could be fun, but some issues I find with ammo, for instance 1 ton of ammo for 3 streaks is not enough, and 2 tons ammo for 1 AMS might be too much. Additionally always keep full (or nearly full) leg armor on Cents, enemies go for those legs a lot. And have some rear armor too. Try this instead perhaps:

Just be sure to use up that arm ammo before the enemies shoot it off. That gun arm is so easy to hit.

I just maxed the armor to make it easy.. Ill adjust some to the rear, but the armor is at full wieght outside of a couple trims

*edit, i never had more than 2 streaks, so perhaps i will swap that.. now just making a little money to finish it off..

I'd drop the med pulse down to normal medium, max your armor and get another ton of UAC ammo.

And move that ammo out of your STs. Legs / head or in the UAC arm maybe ... but I wouldn't pack it in a side torso.

I completely agree with your first sentence.

But putting ammo in the legs of a Centurion is a really bad idea. The standard protocol for taking out Cents is legging it first since they are so resilient. While it seems counter-intuitive to put it in the side torsos due to XL engine, its really the only option on a Cent.

I popped this build on it and have been pretty happy with the results:

Keep all the upgrades it comes with (which is literally all of the upgrades available)
Swap the engine for a standard 260
1xAC2 w/ 2tons ammo
2xSRM6+A w/2 tons ammo
2x ML

You'll have to strip a bunch of armor from the head and left (empty) arm to build it. Otherwise, a slightly smaller engine would allow the same build with less stripped armor

as for a light killer i find this works well with very little changes.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8554b9c5fd79ad3

with the MG crit bonus it comes in handy. once you hit a light with a couple of flights of ssrms they become very acceptable to crits. also by using the MG as a spotter for the mpl i hit more with them. ie once the mg is hitting use the mpl. not the best against anything big but for hanging around the big guys and chasing off the lights it works great. has enough speed to chase down a light but keep an eye out for there bogies. also typical cn9 that zombies all day long.

Your fancy free Centurion comes with a "champion" build, so it's been designed by a person for MWO. Champs & Heroes are not perfect but they don't suffer from the often bizarre design decisions of stock Inner Sphere mechs. Many stock mechs have FF armor and no Endo simply because it's cheaper or even because it's "easier to install", which is much less relevant to MWO.

wouldn't it make the most sense to just put the AC ammo, in the arm? You loose the arm, you loose the weapon anyway..

*edit, and i swapped it back out for an LBx-10, I just deal with the UAC5 and it's jamming.. I swear i have used this thing on 4 different mechs, and never have thought it was the best option.. perhaps a light that can run while it is jammed.. I dunno

Depends, if all that ammo blows up on you it could take your arm and your torso off with it! But if you try to use up as much of that ammo as possible before it goes that can reduce that risk.
