Misery will be the most effective right out of the gate, it's durable and absolutely devastates at long range with many effective but different builds.

Protector will require more work and experience. It's a great brawler(probably the best in the game right now) but it will require the mastery of its hitboxes and a lot of brawling experience.

Seriously get the Misery.
SLap 3 LLs and an AC20 on it and go C-Bill farming.
It is THAT easy with this mech.

Are you referring to me? I have 65 mechs and I use a lot of them. Right now, I'm most enjoying Kintaros (yes, really). But for real money, I wouldn't recommend a sub-par mech to anyone (and I say this as someone who owns ten heroes, only one of which I dislike).

Run up against a light only 12 man and you'll see where a protector shines (our 2 protectors racked up 10 of the 12 kills each of the last two occasions we met that setup in 12 man).

AKA, the Protector is a tool - use it appropriately rather than trying to make a knock off of another setup.

Dude, if someone is interested in playing a bad mech just for the lolz, then they probably aren't going to be asking for advice in a thread like this.

If you enjoy playing suboptimal mechs, then more power to you. (I'm being totally serious - play what you have fun playing.) But it seems disingenuous to not recommend the best mech possible in a thread like this.
