What are the best non consumable modules? Seismic is still okay, right? Is advanced radar really worth it?
Unless I am boating missiles, I don't see myself wanting to bother with the target decay module much...

Target gathering seems to be one of the most useful. Depending on your weapons advanced zoom. If you're a brawler maybe improved gyro. Honestly, whenever I have enough money to buy one I decide a new mech would be more fun.

Consumables are the best.
Target info and Advanced sensors work on anything.
Everything else works well with a mech that can utilize it properly. Advanced zoom for ER LL sniper, Advanced target decay for missile and streak boats, etc.
The only ones that are flat out bad are the arty and air accuracy modules and the weapon range modules. Probably Improved gyro too, but I haven't purchased that one so I can't say from experience.

congratulations on trying to cure your consumable addiction.
Never used Sesmic felt to much like cheating, but it does seem to still be useful stationary
Reduced target decay, 360 sensor, for streakboats
Target info, Advanced Sensors Zoom for snipers
Though precious few seems to use and understand zoom correctly from what I see back seat driving
Do keep meaning to try hill climbing on Atlantes to see if it improves things in a worth while way

Target Info Gathering is a very strong module if you know how to look up and to the right and can shoot at all straight. I've won countless fights simply by knowning where to shoot my enemy to get that efficient kill, or to strip that huge chunk of firepower.
Advanced Sensor Range is nice to have on any mech, but vital on LRM and SSRM builds.
Seismic is okay now, but is best for mechs that will be stopping frequently.
Advanced Zoom is a must if you intend to engage beyond maybe 800m regularly. Gauss, AC2/5, ERPPC, ERLL, etc., all benefit from it.
Target Decay is hugely beneficial for both LRM and SSRM builds, but you want Sensor Range first and if you must choose pick range over decay. If you have 2+ module slots available, though, take both.

If you want to make yourself stop using consumables, spend all your C-Bills. Without Premium Time, a poor round that results in a loss may not even cover the cost of a consumable.
That said, Target Info Gathering is always good. Seismic is still somewhat useful on certain mechs. Advanced Sensor Range and Target Decay are good if you're running a streakboat. People tell me the Hill Climb module is good, but I've not tried it myself.

I use the seismic in everything. AC20 module in my HBK-4G. Target Decay in LRM mechs. Adv. Zoom in snipers.

You don't need to wean yourself off of consumables, you just need to stop being yet another crutch using artillery spammer. I've seen people, and it wasn't jus this week but since it has come out, use artillery as a means of getting that last bit of damage in on a mech. They'd rather blow 40k cbills than wait for their weapons to recycle. It is the epitome of douche usership.
Seismic is great for anything that is slow, brawls, poptarts, or scouts (especiallky that last one - nothing suchs more as a spotter than having a Jenner/Firestarter crawl up your butt unseen).
Advanced Sensor and Target Info is a must for everyone simply because knowledge is power. The faster you can pick them up, the better for you and your team. And the sooner you can pin point the weak spot, the better for you and your team.
I really love Target Decay regardless of the presence of LRMs or not because it gives you 5s more to know where they're going.
I've never played with 360 retention and I haven't picked up the Gyro or Hill Climb modules. The individual weapon modules seem interesting, though. Everything else is just flavor, in m opinion.

I've rarely use any consumables, just ends up being a C-Bill burn. I could use more engines instead.
-Seismic
-Advanced Zoom
-Advanced Target Info
I use those 3 on most mechs.
-Advanced Target Decay
-Advanced Sensor Range
-Advanced Target Info
I use on LRM/Streak mechs to better locks and increase BAP range.
AC/5 Range Module - I use on my 4X Cataphract. Quad AC/5. Noticeable bonus to this mech.
I'm not sure if any of the other range modules are worth the slot it takes. Good luck on breaking the habit.

Like smoking, the only surefire way to quit is to never have started in the first place.
