The only part of the contest that seemed to get everyone fired up was watching the leader boards... Just think how much more exciting it was to watch your placement change after a good match score of 144! I think a rolling Leader Boards for the top 100 players for each mech on the website would create more competitive drive for players to stay immersed in the game even further or revitalize the game for many. What do you all think?

Not a fan, personally. I think that long-term leaderboards would discourage newer players as well as encourage more "well I'm on the leaderboard so my opinion matters more" type behavior. The tourneys reward kill stealing and rambo play... in a team based game. I *do* wish they'd do more tournaments, with a "hall of records" where you could see past leaderboards. I also would like the tournaments to list all classes by chassis (instead of light, [all the mediums], heavy, assault). Some fixed-lance tourneys would be neat to see, but I doubt that will ever happen (you pick 3 friends, pick your mechs, and the only tourney results recorded are for that lance when running those exact mechs). Encourage teamwork!

No, leave that to the pre made/clan events and not for the new or causal players.

permanent leaderboards would only make sense if we had solaris 1v1 style arenas.

Oh I know, but a reverent "hall of records" type experience on the site would be neat. AFTER the game is working though.

There used to be a top 50 players back in CB

But, people got salty and butt hurt their name wasn't on the almighty epeen'ometer so PGI removed it.

Seriously?

Wow, well, I guess that falls in line with the active player tracker.

No if its the same scoring system and solo play.

I'm in favor of permanent leader boards for 1v1, 4v4 and maybe 12v12 play. I wouldn't complain if they had it always on, but I'd rather it be for more structured play than pug drops.

I myself do not feel the need to stroke my e-peen nor do I think it would be a good thing for the community as a whole. Anyone that feels the need to see where they stand in a game needs to get a life...

Just my opinion

Regards

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make those boards. Even then, then I'll feel empowered to tell people and their LBX addiction that LBX is bad and they should feel bad.

Yea, fun.

Wait for the leagues to start up and they`ll post their own leader boards. The basic game and these forums already have enough e-peening as it is without any form of public stats or a leaderboard.

I think that a permanent leader board would be kind of cool. Make it for the top 10 games per week for solo drops only. Honestly, people getting butt hurt is just the wrong way of looking at things. Take it as a challenge! More importantly, change the scoring so that it isn't about just the damage that you do and the number kills/assists that you mooch. The tournaments are a wonderful thing except that they reward the wrong play style.

I think they should have daily running leader boards that reset after each day and list the top 1000 players (top 10 first, then a link that lists next 100 and so on...). They could list every player I suppose, but the top 1000 should be sufficient.

Or even if they did it weekly...I just think it'd be really fun to have the leader boards running all the time.
