The fact idiots overpay for 15 damage?

Or the fact 2 UAC 5 and 2 AC2 will be better and far more deadly with a pair of LL to boot.

The list goes on and on.

UAC5 x2 AC2 x2 Lrg laser x2, 7 tons of ammo (split by 2 types) 300 std engine armor shaved by 50 or so points from max with 10 DHS. (basicaly your suggested build)

4.28 DPS
23% cooling efficency
7 seconds until shut down

Or...

3x AC5 & 2x Lrg Laser,8 tons ammo (shared by all ACs) 300std engine,armor lightly shaved by 10 points from max,15 DHS.

6.98 DPS
49% cooling efficency
21 seconds until shutdown

Judge for your self but on paper the triple AC5s look beter than 2x UAC5 2X AC2s.

The values you're quoting are for "sustainable" DPS (in which case the time to shutdown is infinite).

The "max" DPS of the 2 X UAC/5, 2 X AC/2 build is 18.59. With 7 seconds of firing, that'll put out 130.13 damage.

The "max" DPS of the 3 X AC/5 build is 14.24 - with 21 seconds of firing that'll put out 299.04 damage.

Which is better? It depends. The 2 X UAC/5 build will win in a short engagement (assuming it can focus the damage), but the 3 X AC/5 will win out in longer engagements.

Cool! A new Assault mech that we instantly want to throw as many AC's into as possible! This is new!

How new can any Mech be to folks who have played the game for 20+ years though Nick?

I really do not want it. I never liked the design in table top though. I would have rather seen a Thug or Zeus. I'd certainly take a King Crab or just the Medium Crab. I love the crab designs and they have always been my table top butt kickers!

A new skin to look at!

Have you ever seen PPC3075? It was the Jihad first true Tech readout. There was so many PPCs inside that the book glowed electric blue!

That wasn't really my point.

My point was, we look at mechs and judge them based on how many AC's we can stuff in them at this point.

It's annoying.

The Banshee may be interesting

The rise rates on HGNs have slowed, which means they are going to be coming up longer, before they can alpha. The 35 alpha the banshee could put on it as it comes up, may tip the scales, or at least level the playing field.

I think the 3E version is certainly going to be worth a look. It may not be a game changer but who knows, maybe we get another firestarter that at the very least starts a debate.

you know what "game mode" I'd like to play? BT 3025. No endo-steel, no DHS (although SHS need to be more useful), no OP mechlab asset that you can put in every mech 1-click away while theoritically it should need to build an entirely new mech.

I have to admit after 28 years of MOD games, playing right out f the book made me think more, move smarter, and prove to be more fun than Just smashing. I still liked using the better builds but allowed new players the fun before I'd use em.

Gimme a few decades of playing MWO my way and I will probably come around to StJobes way of thinking. :P

Also you'd be surprise what yu can do using 3025 tech only in a Mech lab.

The second the Launch Module drops, I know I am going to be spamming/scouring the forums for 3025 private matches. I'm already planning on which mechs to use.

I know, but there are specific rules for that ! Refit kits decided what you can and cannot change in a mech and they were largely based on common sense.

It's a matter of personnal taste that I prefer to play a game "as intended" instead of modding everything and I understand not everyone wants that, but IMO it could make a very fun and strategic game. The Awesome would come back as being Awesome...

For those that haven't already put something up on Smurfy. That's my Tri AC5 2 PPC Banshee.
Yeah it's a lil slow. but it's a rapid fire Gauss without Charge Time, and 2 PPCs.

On an unrelated note, I think the Awesome's perk should be that it's the only mech in the game that can fire PPCs without ghost heat penalties....

Stock CN9-A (well, not stock, but you know) with more LRM 10/AC 10 ammo is gonna be my mech of choice!

I would settle for three and see if that is enough of a tweak.
