...and I have to ask: Is there any work around to allow us to use the last version? I'm sure there is not, but I want to be sure. The current version took something that was incredibly easy to use and complicated it while not accomplishing anything in particular that I can see. When I started playing, I didn't have to ask questions about how to set things up...now I have to ask my friends who play where certain things are. Everything use to be big and simple, now all the same information is there but in tiny, hard to read areas that make it look overly technical.

I guess this is mroe of a rant than anything else since I'm sure it's not an option, but it would be nice. Maybe if someone explains to me why the this version of the mechlab is superior I'll be more accepting of it.

UI2 is a WIP, they will be updating it.

The new UI is a first version. It takes a bit of getting used to, but pretty much all the base functionality is still there.

PGI already has a great number of changes in their patch queue or in development, including far superior mech customization (a smurfy-style mechlab interface). I expect them to include a lot of optimizations and such in pretty much every patch for the next several months, at least.

Afraid not, there is a better looking mechlab in the works. Until then I've been designing on smurfy's mechlab and only assembling in the game client once I'm happy with the build. A bit inconvenient but it should only be temporary.

I hadn't played since September... I am utterly amazed at the amount of tedium they have injected into UI 2.0. How long had this been in development again?

It is superior in that it is such a STUPID PAIN IN THE ASS that there is NO DOUBT your eye and hand coordination will improve by around 150%.
You are now a MORE DEADLY MechWarrior then the world has ever seen! ;)

I don't know. I spent a while staring at it last night and don't think it improved my perceptions at all. Just too much going on in such a large area. I'm glad that most of my mechs were setup to my liking prior to UI2...I'm still not liking my centurion but the headache involved in making it right so much that I'd rather just get clobbered in the game than try to fix it.

Don't worry soon you'll be able to do 5 load outs of mechs from strip in like 5 minutes.

This is you walking into a bar after using UI 2.0 for a month:

Case in point:

I'm not allowed to sell my mechs? Or is it that they just prefer I don't sell them and have thus hidden the feature that allows it?

"UI1" has the option right under your mech, right out front. "UI2" might have the option....somewhere...

Not only that, but it seems to require more resources just to run this portion of the game. I know my little Optiplex 9010 isn't the greatest for gaming, but prior to this update it only affected other stuff while I was actually in battle. If the UI was up I didn't see a lot of strain elsewhere. Now the rest of my system suffers the instant I turn the game on.

Again, I'm really interested in hearing how UI2 is superior. If I understood the benefits I think I could just let it go.

Mechs are sold from within the Inventory menu, which is one of the base menu options on the same level as "Mechlab". Yes, I had to google that too. My biggest gripe is that to commit changes to your Mech loadout, you have to click "checkout". I can live with the botched UI, but I have a real hard time comprehending that choice of wording as anything other than a psychological ploy to make us connect one of the greatest customization systems ever conceived in a game franchise with the necessity to spend cash to use it. That's pretty ******* dark right there even for an F2P model which is already inherently sleazy.

I just wanted to say I also haven't played since September, but the promise of a free mech I'd never use was enough to lure me into patching the client and jumping back in.

All I have to say is, MY GOD it's a terrible UI... I clicked around for a little bit and couldn't even find my founder atlas to drop in for a good 90 seconds.. and just floundered around trying to refit it. It doesn't even show up in my list of mechs, but only comes out when I click assault, along with some random Stalker I don't even own!

I know its still beta (the UI, not the game. Wait lets face it, the game really is too) but come on! I actually wanted to play MWO again for the first time in 6 months, and I just turned it off 90 seconds ago, to check the forums in the hopes of finding a way to just see what the hell is loaded on my atlas, and what I have in my inventory. even just a way to hide all the wireframe pictures that take up MOST of the screen and tell me NOTHING would be a welcome addition. Every gun just looks the same, and I swear every engine is the exact same IDENTICAL PICTURE. Icons and images are WORTHLESS for selection if they're all the same.

Just bugging my signature Atlas is enough to instantly put me off. and they keep doing it! First they turn its entire dome into a cockpit hit and now this...

Definitely a nice big refresher on why I'm playing War Thunder these days instead of MWO for my Free 2 Play mayhem.

Did they make some more changes to the UI with this last patch? Because now not only is it confusing and complicated, but now I can't hardly run anything outside of the game when just the mechlab is up.

I just wanna know why my mechs look so ... dull.

They don't look tall.

They don't look epic.

They actually look kind of lame.

I suspect it's the lens they chose for the default view.

The rest of the UI isn't great, but at least they've got something they can add to, now. Assuming they follow through on that.

problem is the mechs are set against generic backdrop 1. if they were set with some points of reference like gangways stairways technicians and equipment it would improve the look and immersion 150%

they knew what they were doing 20 years ago

i liked the down->up view they had before. but i got to admit the mechs look better in this view.

so since we don't have a down->up view for perspective. they should add some technicians like u said to convey scale

My guess is that PGI would have withheld the current UI2.0 if not because of too many crying for its release.

It took a while for me to navigate through the new UI. At first I was confused especially after having accustomed to the old UI for many months. But now I already get the hang of it with no major problem. I like how I can rotate the Mech models and group my weapons. Honestly, I even forgot how the old UI worked. Think it as changing from Apple to Samsung smartphone.
