Might the introduction of an XL400 viable Mech finally be the death of the stupidly OP Firestarter? The Banshee 3ER is especially suited to chasing Lights because of it's high speed, good armour and ballistic hardpoints supporting light killing machine guns. What do you guys think of this build:

BNC-3ER

The pulse lasers will fire quickly and recharge quickly too, and you can keep the machine guns trained on the Light's legs to take them out quickly. The LB10-X will be a great weapon to follow up and gives protection from heavier Mechs as well.

Can't wait to try this out!

Isn't the leg armor a little low?

Anyway, there are much better mechs for hunting lights.

Fast is relative. It's fast for an assault mech but entirely too slow for dedicated, or even part time, light hunting.

I dunno, man...

75 Kph isn't exactly speedy, just fast for an assault.

The leg armor is way too low.

The Flamer in the head is probably a waste.

You've got more LB ammo than you really need.

There's not really much reason to run a BAP on a 'Mech like this.

And there's absolutely no reason to have a CASE in the Right Torso since you're using an XL engine.

BAP is good for ECM management in general. CASE does take a slot, so it should reduce the likelihood of the engine getting blown out by 10% for burning a half ton. Could be worse.

That looks pretty good - 4 Large Lasers can still be pretty beastly even with Ghost Heat (you just have to fire them two at a time).

If I were to make any recommendation it'd be to put more of your Rear Side Torso armor on the Front - the 'Mech moves fast enough that getting flanked and attacked from behind shouldn't be too much of a problem, and the enemy brawlers are probably going to target your side torsos before anything else.

True on the BAP, but crit padding isn't necessary with an XL at the moment. The whole side torso has to be torn off regardless.

Oh i know i just keep default armor on Smurfy when building builds specially the rear torsos ones. i usually top it at 20/18 on CT/ST for Assaults.

P.S: Also added lulz when you start speeding faster than 90% of you heavy Mechs in the match and they can hardly keep at your pace.

or you can just take a medium with 4-5 streaks and 110-120kph... this is a very inefficient light killer, and does not look great a killing much else either.

I think 77kph is pretty decent since you can leg an unsuspecting Light very fast and they aren't going anywhere anyway. I took out the case and upgraded to two heavy pulse lasers and also increased the armour. How about this?

Sure, it's good for negating a single ECM mech within 150 meters of him, but he's not using any lock-on weapons, so it's not that huge of a deal. Really, the only way it helps him is that he'll be able to target and share data on a nearby enemy ECM mech with the rest of his team... I don't know if that's really worth the tonnage.

The "engine getting blown out" doesn't kill a 'Mech - crit damage to the engine has no effect right now. You only die if you actually lose the side torso.

And sure, it'll buffer critical hits on the ammo stored in that location, but he'd be better off moving the ammo to his head or legs and, using that extra half a ton to beef up his leg armor.

That looks better - a few more things though: I would pull one of the Heatsinks out of the engine and pop it into the side torso with your LPLs - it'll buffer the weapons against crits.

You can probably also just pull one of the Heatsinks out and use the tonnage to max your armor overall - 53% heat efficiency is really high. Higher than you probably need.

Looks better but Imho i'll try to drop the flamer and 1x LBX ammo and get 3x LL and an extra DHS for a more rounded performance (since 3x LL on chainfire or Alphaed can put quite a good dmg on an unsuspected light)

If you are building your 95 tons to counter my 35 tons, I've already won.

CASE can't be critted so it isn't padding anything.

The armament itself looks okay to counter lights at close range.

As for the chassis itself. I don't know.

My Stalker-3F has a fair number of light kills when a light pilot decided it was a good idea to close in on a 4 ER large laser and 4 SSRM2 for whatever reason, but I would not call it a light killer though.
