The Firebrand is on sale and I feel tempted. Is it worth the money ?

Good hard points that allow you to mount a heavy ballistic payload supported by energy weapons and a nice paint job. <_<

It and my Misery were sadly cast aside when I forced myself to learn pop tarting in Victor's and Highlander's... which points to its missing feature - jump jets. Still a good mech though.

I got the Ilya which in my book is the top mech. But lately I've come across those Jagermechs and they seem to be fun. Their high hardpoints and firepower appeals to me, but as one of you mentioned: Low manouverablity... And it cost some MC's too...

Its a good mech if you enjoy Jagers.

Dragonslayer is pretty beastly though.

The Firebrand is an excellent Jager (and an excellent Heavy as well).

I'm a big fan of mine. I got it because it has Rifleman hard points, and the AC/5 and large laser combo is a lot of fun.

If you were considering Jagers, I'd definitely get it.

If you just like making coin with a BoomJager, it runs it (or dual Gauss). IMO, though, if you're not using the arm energy points, you're kindof missing the point. I run 2AC5/2PPC and it's my favorite JM6 by far.

@Roughneck... I already got the DS. At start I called it MistakeMech, but I learned that it was a beast. Anyway the Jager line is one I plan to enter some time, so I would look at FB as a fun mech first, and perhabs an introduction to Jagers

you need to notice that firebrand have 120° torso turn [mastered] compared to 132° of jagger DD and S.
yes you can feel it.
thats the reason i take DD or S fir a ride more often.

Get it. I ran UAC5 and ERLL on mine, but this was a good time back, havent run it in a while. Paint is pretty awesome, except the stupid 666 they decided to put on it that I wish I could black out without losing the cool flames.

Anyway, the hardpoints are very flexible, if you want to run ppc's, it works great, smaller lasers and bigger AC, works great, giant AC, works too. I never found the no JJ thing an issue, jagers work best at decent range, or playing ninja with srprs buts3cs ac40's or the like. Except the DD, I ran 2 UAC5 and 4MG, 2 MPL on that and got in peoples faces.

Yeah buy it, its on sale and its pretty good.

I've been running the Firebrand with 2xPPC 1xGauss, XL280. Great for ridge-sniping, great for pugging/4-man. I ran the 2xPPC 2xAC5 for a while, but I slightly prefer the Gauss version.

I've found the FB a bit hard to balance for heat management compared to the other Jagers, obviously the extra energy hardpoints are the problem, but that's why you get it in the first place (and to grind cbills). I like the rifleman setup as people have been suggesting, but in the interest of keeping my arms longer (people aim for them in an instant if you're running something high bore), i've been trying 6x MPL's and 2x MG's with max armor and a bit bigger engine...not going great, but not bad either.

Good mech though, i would recommend picking it up just for the awesome amount of firepower you can use at a very low profile from cover (behind a hill or building).

Yea, in my opinion. Very solid mech with high arms for sniping and a variety of load out options. I started with the Ilya, which is great, but I've had more success overall in the Firebrand.

Thanx for all the input. Ive decided to let this one go, due to a very slim economy. I Intend to visit the Jagers by c-bills, but it will be without the help of FB.

Edit: Screw economy - bought the sucker
