Hi.

Not sure if this is in the right section so let me know...

I just stripped all armour and equipment from a mech I want to re-configure in the mechlab. However, when I went to put the armour back on, I was told that I need to purchase it. It was a Raven and I had to pay about 60,000 CB to re-armour it, even though it was fully armoured before I stripped it.

Is this a bug, just an oversight or an intentional mechanic? Obviously 60,000CB isn't a shed load but if I have the armour already I should be free to remove it and put it back on as I wish.

This was not the CB sink that happens when you switch armour types, by the way, just from removing and replacing one kind of armour.

I think you can try to log out, then log back in to get your stuff back, but I'm not 100% sure that's working, so better stay away from that "Strip Mech" button. Far, far away...

That shouldn't be happening. Assuming that you had full armor on the mech previously saved prior to stripping it, it shouldn't be asking money from you for putting on the armor.

The only thing I can think of however is if your account is recent and you have a few mechs to your account, there's a scenario where this "could occur".

Did you recently buy another mech, and then add armor to it? If so, that "may" be triggering said condition. Trying to strip armor from one mech and then trying to use it on a different mech (assuming they are using the same armor type) could trigger that behavior (sharing armor between mechs is really not optimal).

If it's just a strict transaction (mech was literally full of armor AND previously saved) with no other transactions made, there should no reason this should be occurring.

The bigger problem is that there is no armor storage count in UI 2.0 (it is stored by the # of pts of armor IIRC) and you can't see it because it has no sell value. That's the real issue at work here. You don't know how much extra you do or do not have, so it's hard to validate how much you have.

Ok, I think I know what the problem is... but I'll post the problem separately in a different link.

Edit: There you go.

So it is a bug then?

Not sure if my armour, "came back" shortly afterwards like you mention as I noticed what you said about engines and had got my stipped engine back and put into the mech before I started to apply the armour.
