I like to see the game not crash and not having to click "yes" to 100 times in mechlab

I was ready to pull the trigger on buying some foot pedals and a nice joystick back when I thought this game was going to be a more like a simulator.

When you drop in a match, you see a flight stick in your right hand.......
that means it is THE most important interface device for the mechwarrior, yet its treated like its unimportant.
that is wrong, shortsighted, and needs to be fixed!
That means top priority, not when YOU get around to it!

Over 30? played MW 1-4 on a stick?

I'm a bit of an old timer I would love to have a flight stick interface that was worth a damn but,I get it an entire generation of gamers never touched them never used them and don't want to learn how to use them.

Truth is joystick users are dinosours I admit it I'm an old fart.

And as such I devised a potential compromise I just need to hammer the square peg into the round hole.

I want to try using a Saitek X52 throttle for handling acel/decel jump jets coolantflush/other utility modules etc.A multi button mouse for handling torso and arm positioning and selecting/firing weapons.Lastly I will try to get a set of pedals to handle R/L turning.

If I can get this mess to function I should have the accuracy of a mouse combined with reflexive piloting from the other controls.

gotta love it when people ignore stuff like my post just so they can post "PGI only cares about money" and such.

Even when you're trying to help them

Was it ignored or was the posting occuring nearly at the same time? 3 minutes apart? maybe your first post with the solution was not up when the post in question was written?

I read through the posts and I knew I'd find the obligatory, "when you die you can tell who is using a joystick because they aim like squids, etc.", but dude, you died. Possibly by making a Mouse pilot error. I can always tell who is definitely using a mouse when they run straight into me instead of circle strafe or get stuck on walls or park on a perch somewhere to just cursor-shoot. All of which are reasons to be destroyed.

I will say it is difficult to set up a joystick, but between the controller tab and your joystick's profiler, (or a user.cfg file if your joystick has no profiler software for the axii), you can, with a little trial and error, get very good response. Joystick's suffer more with the Mech variations which are barely noticeable with a Mouse, so you may need a couple of different profiles for Assaults vs Heavies and lower.

The other issue I have with PGI is they are removing the weapons that work well with a joystick. The old Gauss Rifle, PPCs, AC10 and AC20 all nerfed since last June. These are or were the aim and fire weapons as opposed to the aim and track weapons like Lasers, MGs (buffed insanely), AC2-AC5, which all do high DPS/payload ton to compensate for the constant tracking.

It's funny that the reasons these aim and fire weapons were nerfed was to compensate for poor piloting by Mouse users. I mean that has to be it because you had hundreds of players complaining about being cored and convergence which they still complain about, but I was not and am not being cored unless I am testing the Awesome. Any other mech was ending up with every section damaged or highly damaged-no armor. So unless everyone was piloting Awesomes, it has to be Mouse-pilot error which is responsible for the coring and burst-fire complaints. However, that is just my opinion.

Basically what I do, but I don't need to use the pedals for chasis turn because the throttle I'm using has a ministick.

But be wary of the mandatory throttle decay when going analogue, you will stop when opening chat, scoreboard or battlemap.

The 'workaround' is to perfectly center the throttle, accelerate to full with the keyboard, then open the offending screen. Too cumbersome for practical use.

Gotta target the paying demographics in the order they represent importance to the bottom line of PGI/IGP. That places JS users near the bottom, below community warfare "wanters", league/e-sporters, lore-hounds and Clans man.

I too would like to see some hardware support love, but ultimately, would personally much rather see so many things added (as advertised) and fixed, before they spend time and limited resources on peripherals. And I think that's how it's going to play out.

Plus PGI probably has to organize a sale somewhere first anyway.

I AM A WHALE! I am one of the people who pour money in this game and that has stopped as of March 4 when analog support for flight-sticks went away! I am not spending another penny til it gets fixed! Somewhere in open beta we got analog control for flight-sticks. It went away when we got DX 11, that is unacceptable.

I love MechWarrior.

Playing MechWarrior 2, 3 and 4 with my old thrust master was great.

The only reason I have spent 0 dollars on MechWarrior online Is simple.

I can not seem to get my Saitek X52 Pro Flight System to work correctly.

I have been waiting to buy the clan collections and resistance collection until I can get my stick to work right.

So I figure my 500 bucks is staying in my wallet until this issue is solved.

And if its not, well I always have Elite Dangerous.

Honestly before MWO I would have agreed with ya about that. I always used one in MW2,3,4, and couldn't kit squat with a mouse. But since playing MWO I have adjusted my thinking and wouldn't drop away from home without me mices. :)

full joystick support would be sweet , but they also need to get full controller support in as well. have you actually ried playing this game on a xbox 360 pad? it's horrible. Maybe they can work on both at the same time. you'd see the player base grow as well as see many of us old timer joy stick warriors (like myself) happy.

Back in MW 3 & 4 I was replacing joy sticks left and right.
I have no problem with using the mouse, leaves more money for Mech Goodies. :)

Novasdeferens, that's probably because you bought cheap joysticks. for the longest time I had a MS sidewinder FF it lasted me like 10 years before it's base buttons started failing and I finally stopped using it. Point is if you expect to get along lasting joystick for 50 bucks ... forget it . For a good long lasting joystick you have to spend 150+. That said man do I miss FF (force feedback). no joystick made today has it , its one of those features that just died (unlike is weaker cousins "rumble pads"). But damn FF sure kicked the s--t out rumble pads as far as realism and immersion go.
