You want LLs on the D-DC for PUG drops, so that you are not out-ranged easily.

Biggest flaw they all have. Easily out-ranged.

In the middle elo ranks, BLRs can be run with XL engines successfully. If you're comfortable with the medium mech playstyle, then I'd recommend making the BLR-1D your primary one. Stick an XL375 or XL400 with a combination of ballistics and medium lasers (I prefer 2xAC5 and 5xML but will sometimes drop a laser for TAG). It's like a flightless Shadowhawk.

BLR-1S is a decent LRM boat with 3xMLs for backup. I have't had luck with it running streaks or SRMs.

I don't much like the 1G. The extra energy hardpoints don't make up for the reduced torso twist.

While you can run it slower, as Koniving suggests, I haven't found that to be a very workable strategy. It's a big mech and without CT weapons, isn't much of a zombie. Without jump jets, it's difficult to spread damage with smaller engines.

Ahh someone else with knowledge of your current Elo, +/- 1400 because matchmaker thinks it funny.

Not to take the thread too far off-topic but if elo is properly implemented, and it follows a normal distribution curve, then the vast majority of players are going to be in the middle ranks. Chances are, if you're not a competitive gamer and don't exclusively play in 4- or 12-man teams, then you're probably not going to fall too far from the median.

A good indicator is that it takes less than 3 minutes to find a game and you never have a "failure to find a match" error.

ETA: BLRs were also my first, and to date only, assault mechs. Since your elo defaults to the median in a new mech class, it's probably safe to make assumptions based on that.
