Just wondering if anyone had noticed that the banshee must be from an inbred family. Six fingers on each hand. ;) :D  :o

Inigo Montoya: I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?

Man in Black: Do you always begin conversations this way?

Polydactyly is not a product of inbreeding, but of a congenial genetic mutation. ;)
  • "Polydactyly does occur in other animals too, including dogs, chickens, mice and cats, usually as a result of mutations to the LMBR1 gene."
  • "Polydactyly does not occur any more or less in either males or females as the LMBR1 gene is not located in the sex chromosomes (X or Y). It is located in chromosome 7 in humans, and chromosome 5 in mice."
  • "As polydactyly is usually caused by a random mutation, only one of the parents would be affected and so inbreeding does not increase the likelihood of a child developing polydactyly. If both parents were polydactyls, then the likelihood of the child being affected is 75% but this is not increased by inbreeding."
Apparently, it's fairly common - and even popular & sought-after - in cats.
The more you know!

More to the point: the Banshee's hands are just the result of a modeling flub on PGI's part.

I don't think it's a modeling flub. I think it makes the 'mech particularly ghoulish like its namesake.
