The Cataphract Who Forgot His Xl

This one time, my Ilya Muromets got confused and mounted a standard 280 instead of its XL. In defence of the 'phract, it did take the initiative and equip itself with an AC20 to try and make up for what I then believed to be a catastrophic mistake. I was about to sell the old fart for some c-bills to punish it when I started racking up the kills. Apparently people see the AC20, but don't actually *see* the AC20 and get all surprised when they knock a torso off and the 'phract keeps on hauling ass toward them, smoldering torso and all. The 'mistake' also opened up a world of opportunity for side tanking damage that would have otherwise had me spectating the rest of my team in short order.
I decided I'd sit down and take a look at what other builds might be useful with the express restriction of equipping a standard engine, and tanking damage with a dummy / shield torso. Each build was constructed around an AC20 as its raison d'etre, along with another suitably hard hitting and fast firing weapon to back it up. My thought process was to face my target as briefly as possible to let rip with a wallop of pain, and then twist back round again.
Here are a couple, starting with my IM build. I believe my reasoning to be sound, but the weapon loadouts beyond the AC20/PPC to be somewhat suspect. I'd fancy some input from you fine standard engine fairing folk.

Just bought the 1X and can't wait to have the funds for DHS so I can kit this baby out like a big ol' huncback.

The 2X does look quite promising with its better backup weapons. As you point out, the IM is a bit screwed once the right torso pops. That said, the IM is not the only Mech to suffer the woes of right torso loss. I see it as equally a liability, and an opportunity to make the other half of your Mech a punching bag.

I prefer this on a 1X mostly because that engine size gives you great speed. As well I'm a little crazy.

The Ilya can work well as a brawler too. UAC or AC5 in the left arm, AC20 in RT, two MLs for backup. Even if they take off your RT you'll still have decent firepower.
