So one thing UI 2.0 did was make the piloting skill tree very long. You can sort by Mech class but that is it. I would love to see PGI add some more Filters to the list.

Owned Mechs: This would make the list for new players TINY! Who wants to look through all the mechs when they own only a few.

Mechs not Mastered: If I have lots of mechs, I do not want to have to look through a big list to find the few I have not finished leveling yet.

These are the 2 I can think of, maybe other people can think of others.
