New to FRR and CGB

I am currently working on a FRR/CGB/GBD/RD website at the moment so that we can all have a place to chat and get to know eachother outside of the official forums.
I would personally like to invite the de facto leader of Clan Ghost Bear and my apparent Khan to join with me in rallying and leading our community to greatness.
And for our FRR brothers and sisters, be not put off by my allegiance to CGB, I wish for you all to join us as well.
Best regards,
Bjorn

So, do you think me blind or ignorant my friend? Because neither is true... and if you didn't happen to notice the 'Clans' section is under BattleTech Universe and not MechWarrior Online Universe, and this post is completely relevant to the FRR due to the fact of me pledging my loyalty to it (because I am a... 1. Fan of the FRR, 2. Fan of CGB, 3. Fan of the story of the eventual balance they find with eachother, 4. All of the above.
I'd say 4.
Also, as I stated, I'm making a website for FRR and CGB players, it's still a work in progress, but it can be found at: rasalhague.enjin.com
And one more thing: Accept the future, the Clan Invasion is coming, there is no stopping the storm, you can only bundle up and endure the cold. =P
Best regards,
Bjorn

I praise your good web-efforts.
Please understand that some, such as Carl here, have taken the mantle of drumming up a defiant roleplay of complete anti-clan mentality and refrain from the pitfalls of engaging them in arguments that only tear apart the Republic's forces unity.
The Ghost Bear Dominion, later the Rasalhague Dominion, will occur as per transcribed in canon lore. But that'll unlikely to transpire during MWO's timeline.
As it seems to stand, there won't be clans in the game (or at least not in a decent measure that merits playing them) so for the time I believe most any Ghost Bears will be joining in the Republic's defense against the invasion.
So, for the moment, we fight; any and all would-be clans or their representatives or so-called great houses who'll dare transgress onto the Republic's territory.
Here's your complementary elemental kegger.

You claim to represent a "free republic" but yet you oppress those around you.
There are people here that are willing to fight for you, fight with you. The only thing separating them from mercenaries is that they fight for an ideal, rather than just the money. Yet you cast them out, label them as traitors when it is you who are betraying them!
Do you wish them fight against you? Would you have them ally themselves with your true enemies as you darken their view of you? Who are you to drive them out? Would you drive out mercenary units as they might fight against you later if the pay was better? Would you turn a beacon of freedom into an isolationist state? Corrupt your own ideals into something self-serving?
No! The Republic is better than this! The Republic is better than you! You are no better than the Kurita and Steiner that would in turn oppress you!
Allegiances of mercenaries will change. Honor does not. Welcome all as friends, lest they drive your knife into your back.

What should we do then? Just not play MWO until the Clans get launched? That is a pretty poor choice, and would offer little challenge to the mighty members of FRR playing against 'MWO noobs'. We are not playing FRR as long as it is convenient, as we are not able to play our desired faction, instead we wish to fight for the honor of the faction that eventually, timeline wise merges with our desired faction with mutual benifits.
We are not trying to be the enemy, and if this game were to launch in 3060 instead of 3049, we would for the most be allies, aside from the 7 systems FRR holds during 3060.
I understand Carl's thoughts, but he should try to look past that we are 'traitors' to the FRR and see us as the brothers and sisters we are. We will get to enjoy fighting with each other, then get to pit ourselves against each other and then with luck as MWO succeeds we get to fight alongside each other for the glory of the Dominion. You can regret that the Clans happen in the timeline, but you cannot change it. MWO will step along with canon lore for the most, and we should all try to enjoy the ride.

And if I am wrong, how does this make an attack on Bjorn justified?

So just because something is inevitable means we should simply stand by and let it happen? Nonsense! Death is inevitable and yet we fight tooth and nail to stave it off. Just as we will fight to our last breath to stop the inexorable advance of the clans, even though we know that in the end we will fail. The only true defeat is when you give up.
P.S. Although I personally don't care to much, I can see why some may be ired by your implication in your original post that the head of the Republic would be a Khan. Many do not like the clans and could get pissed at apparently being asked to rally behind one. Not saying that that is necessarily what you did merely that it could be interpreted as such.

Hey, I'm just letting you know how some people feel Coffi. The plan is to play with the FRR until what you want comes along, then you'll turn around and attack the FRR and Combine, since that is the GB attack corridor. Some people aren't going to be overly excited about that, and aren't going to embrace you as brothers, since you're only "brothers" for as long as it is convenient. People see you as not only taking their numbers away when the clans come, but then actively planning to attack them. That's a double dose of "betrayal."
That's the impression I've gotten from a lot of posts anyway, and does not necessarily reflect the view of myself or this unit. I'm just trying to condense the opinions I've seen.
What else could you do? Join the FedSuns, Liao, or Marik until the Clans are playable I guess? Since they aren't involved in the invasion directly? Be straight up merc and bounce between factions? I dunno, it's sort of a no win for you.

That being said... as long as the Ghost Bears merc unit keeps a low profile and don't start preaching the word of Kerensky in ever street corner i see no reason to not work with them up to the point when they (re)turn. After all you did not see that OTHER undercover merc unit draw any undue attention to the whole clan thing now did you.
Metagaming always make things difficult when it comes to role-playing.
