Actually MM/Elo was what they intended to use at the time. However, due to unforeseen problems they couldn't get it to work with the numbers/rankings of people actually playing. It actually just selects teams on a first come first selected basis.

I don't give a flying <censored> how the matchmaker is done as long as it's kept totally out of Community Warfare.

Meaning you're one of those people that have yet to put on the white cape of the White Knights or the black cape of the Doomsayers. You can actually get along with both sides of the coin and hold an intelligent, logical discussion with either side.

Unlike me. I'm a grumpy, bile spitting Sith of a Doomslayer. All day, every day. I couldn't hold a conversation with Sandpit if I had to...heck, I wouldn't even do it with a gun to my head. I despise him worse than he despises me because, as a Doomsayer, I have the capacity to hate more than he does.

Congrats, Joe, you're a Speedbump. ^_^

Agreed.

But it needs to be available for those that don't wish to participate in CW or for new players that have yet to complete their Nooblering training exercises. THEN they can join CW and get clubbed like the baby seals they are.

You balance teams by not forcing them to drop with random people.
You balance teams by not forcing new players to drop against vets
You balance teams by not introducing a "new" launch module that perpetuates the same system we have now

You DON'T balance teams by placing arbitrary limits on group sizes and not letting them participate in CW.
You DON'T balance teams by placing new players into the same games as vets with optimized mechs
You DON'T balance teams by placing everyone into the same queue and hoping for the best

I disagree with only one point... I would not have gotten to be as good as I am if I had not mixed it up with everyone that was available back in closed beta.

Agreed, neither would I, but that doesn't mean a player dropping in his first match ever, with no knowledge of Btech, etc. should be dropping against my Stalker in a trial mech. After their cadet bonus then it's time to mix them in with gen pop.

Guess I'm old school. I learn best from getting tossed in the deep end.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, after the cadet bonus they can enter the fray. They should be given a chance to learn the game a bit before that. it's the same reason you and I went to boot before joining our units. You don't just sign on the dotted line and wake up in Iraq ;) You have a minimal amount of training first. That's what the cadet bonus and queue SHOULD be used for

lol Nah, he'll at least listen to other ideas even if he doesn't like them instead of calling someone a troll or white knight just because their opinion is different

When I launch, regardless of how many people are on my team at the time, I can see the names of every player on the other team. Some have 0 ping and aren't fully loaded in yet, but I can see their name.

If you ask the other team, I think you will find that they can see all the names on your team even though you may not see them all until they fully get loaded in and have an actual ping.

I think the MM doesn't launch until it has a 12v12, but sometimes people fall out after it assigns the teams (bad ping). So we can't know how it is balancing the teams since we can't see that at all.
