As the title says, I'm looking for some good builds that are tailored to the recent changes to weapons (ppc/gauss desync, LPL buff etc.) since I got bored with mine but can't come up with anything remotely good.

Any help at all is welcome ;)

Heavy meta, obviously.
Gauss+2xLPL+ML+2xSSRM2 for something different.
Gauss+3xERLL for extra long range.
My people need me for something potentially hilarious.

In all cases, modify the ammo/JJ/cooling situation according to personal preference.

This is what I came up with after reading every possible build I could find:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8d8eacd1e791560
Meta+support weapons. 2x AC5, PPC, 2x LRM10, 2x ML, AMS, XL325.

I had a lot of fun the other day using XL295 (only engine on friends account) ERPPC x1 / Gauss Rifle x1 / LRM10 x1 / LRM5 x1 / Medium Laser x2 (or one tag unit and an additional heat sink).

Best match 600 dmg w/ 5 kills - 7 assist.

People will tell you It's bad and yes it could be better, but I like it.. a lot. It's a very.... safe and easy to use build.
I set it up for my new friend and they can dish it out without having Jagermechs crap on their match. Still a 25 point damage alpha from very far away and because of the Gauss + ERPPC it's actually a little less heat than the traditional meta as well and can still brawl with these weapons as well, it's just the cooldown isn't as quick as an AC/5 so you can be easily predictable and exposed if you're missing shots and shooting both weapons at the same time close up.

^ good stuff, have fun ;)

I put Gauss+ERPPC+stuff on my Dragon Slayer with the same idea. Have extreme range, but also support/DPS weapons for closer work. I would take SRMs, though. Something like Gauss+ERPPC+2xML+2xSRM6.

I guess there isn't a single HM player that does something other than meta builds or sth like that, so I'm stuck with the meta, so my question is: should I go std300 or XL325 for the meta build? OR JUST GIMME DAMN NEW BUILDS <_<

It works very simply. AC2+Gauss on one group. Hold AC2 on target, let go when Gauss charges. The projectile speeds are similar. You have LPLs for close-range engagements. You add an ML if you can handle the heat.

Not sure how good that would actually work in practice, the recicle times are so off you would lose a lot of sync and an ac/2 alone is worthless, also with the JJs change bringing only one on a assault is useless.

I would do something like this if you don't wanna go meta, HEAVY METAL (can swap the artemis for the 5th JJ if you so desire) this has a nice close range puch to bring the metal to the face of the enemy

I have used a similar approach with ERLL+Gauss. You basically hold the instant-fire weapon until Gauss charges, then let go to add Gauss. This is your entire refire cycle, after which you turn/duck away.

1 JJ is still enough to provide mobility/damage spreading when not poptarting. You only need more for builds focused on jump-sniping.

ERLL+ Gauss works great too, it is what i used to "re-learn" the Gauss, after the charge patch.
After a while i switched to AC2. Reason for using AC2 is that it provides suppression while charging the Gauss, increasing the HM survivability quite a lot, the screen shake effect will make difficult for the enemy to return fire with precision.
For practicing AC2 +GAUSS mechanics (best if arm-mounted) you can also use a Battlemaster (G,D), Victor (S, B, DS), Jager, Cataphrakt or even a Shadowhawk..
Try to simplify other weapon systems until you get a grip on ac2+gauss.
Once you can charge and fire the gauss without thinking too much about it, congratulations! You have mastered the "new" gauss! Now you can add some more nasty weapons to you combo (ERLL, LL, PPC, LPL, LRM..)

I hate the new gauss and the ac2 screen shake you speak of in practicaly non-existent since the screen shake nerf. But you do make a nice argument why one should try and relearn the gauss.

I've come to really like the UAC5/AC2 pairing, you could replace the gauss with a UAC5 and then add some streaks. Probably what I would do.

here are couple i have fun with. basically the same but with minor changes. neither are meta nor are they pop tart high pin point damage dealers, but can be played as such. really jack of all trades, master of none builds.

this one is a lbx/2xlrm10 rig with a couple of mls
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6bb95fc9e187035

trade lbx for ac 10 and alrm20.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c6c18663beef8f6

these were something i was playing with to counter DDCs between 900m and 300m, if you watch your position, you can make a DDC's existence miserable. wack them with the ppc then rain the lrms quickly, rinse repeat. ac10 and mls as opportunity presents it self. slow but surprisingly maneuverable with the jjs. also makes a good support mech. think more about a ranged assault as you close. ie use up the lrms with ppc fire as you advance, then switch to ac/ppc/ml as you close. yep the ammo is a bit light so place your shots well. may need to play with the armor a bit. when i made these i had not yet mastered hgns and lights would be a problem behind me. also in pugs a 49kph mech got left behind a lot. once speed twiked to 55kph it kept up better and lights became less of a problem.
