My 2xLBX10/4ML Jager is a favorite brawler in my stable. As such I was gleefully clicking to purchase a range extender for it, especially since the 'drawback' is 'extra heat' on my already cool running primary weapon system.

Then I tried it. I was expecting a 'choke' like real shotguns where you can control spread by screwing in a different one to shape the barrel exit. NOPE. All this 3m CB module did was make it so the 1 pellet that hits in the center of my pattern at 550m is less range penalized. No change in spread at all.

I have to wonder if anybody even tried these modules before adding them to the production code?

Also, SRM module is broken and even basic testing would have discovered it.

Please take all the Golden Clan Mech monehz and hire a QA department. Thanks.

It doesn't change anything about the weapon. What's to 'like' about using it? At anything outside of around 500m you're getting maybe 1-3 pellets on the target. So at 570m or so that 3 damage might have been dropped to 2.7...

I checked on walls at various ranges and do NOT see a change in spread from using the module.

legitimately, I'm curious what others are seeing as the benefit to this module as compared to Seismic, or Target Info Gathering, or an Arty Strike.

Well, my AC40 Jager uses the AC20 range boost, the ML range boost and Seismic Sensor. I am not sure how much extra damage the range is giving me, but since I generally fight in the 300 - 400m range I have faith that it is increasing my damage by a few percent, and even though I seem to be in an ELO that results in 6+ arty strikes per match (usually one after another) I still do not want to spend 40 - 80k per match on it, and so these one off buys that increase my damage suit me well.

EDIT: I realise im not talking about the LB10X, I just thought Id chime in on why I think the range modules are the best choice out of the current options.

The other modules (and I have a good amount of them) seem to give an EXTREMELY marginal effect, which is why a straight damage increase is the right choice for me.

Absolutely agree that Some of them are a no-brainer to take. AC/20 range mod is going to be useful almost all the time.

LBX-10 on the other hand... Needs to decrease spread pattern or it's pointless, which is the reason for OP.

I just don't think we should let the devs get away with being lazy. Test Everything.
