IDEA:
Allow players to take the plain HTML build link from Smurfy and insert it into a text field and then automatically equip the mech with the EXACT same build out as Smurfy assuming the player owns the mech and has the equipment.

If you want to earn points, add this functionality to the Store, so that a person could design a mech, and then imput in the hyperlink into the store and buy the mech with Cbills or MC.

Or, make the mechlab as functional as the Smurfy site so that you wouldn't have to copy and paste stuff from a 3rd party site.

Yeah well that's a given. However, Smurfy is the defacto standard for sharing builds. It would be very easy to go in and use another persons build. Hell if they were really smart, they'd allow you to pick a player, including enemy players after a match and use their own build on your mech even if you didn't see their exact builds.

I've seen a few guys break 1100 damage recently not using streaks, it would be nice to try that in their exact same builds.

I've been wanting them to do that forever. But even better would be if they just had their own version of smurfy on this website. And when you sign in you can save load outs that then automatically become available in game (and of course add the function to save load outs in game). Bonus points for making it be smartphone friendly or have a app since then it would be great for putting builds together while out but just waiting around.

(U)AC5s, PPCs, arty, and air. Other ways to do it but thats the most likely. Though I haven't played since the LRM buffs.

I'm sure their 99% graphical artist programming team could come up with that just after peace in the middle east breaks out.

Contract it out :P Heck hire the smurfy guy if they can, would probably even boost the community moral.

I'm serious about Piranha's coding ability. Every problem with the game is coding, not art. I doubt they'd have the ability to integrate Smurfy's database and code generator, let alone the ability to take a flat file in when Smurfy does a code change and bring it in.

Yeah but I'm serious about contracting it out or bringing in somebody to do it (if they don't have somebody that could set that up on the website and as a app). I really think that would be a great feature to have and could help community interaction and keeping people into the game (since you could mess with builds when not at a computer).

Yeah it doesn't take a genius to come up with this idea and implement it, but then again I don't think Piranha has creative minds to do this. They keep pushing camoflage and new mech chassis MEANWHILE, actual looks sparklies they could sell and make a lot more money, like:
-Weapon color change
-Glowing mech eyes/cockpit
-Mech glows a specific color when overheating
-Colored footprints
-Fusion engine glow

Just copy the shit that is working at PoE and bring it in over here, rather than going the Pay to Win route with the Firestarter and Lamance examples.

Changing weapon colors might potentially cause some issues, because you could use it to confuse people as to what type of laser you are firing at them. I.e. look at that silly guy firing 4 medium lasers at me from a distance, can't hurt that badOHMYGODTHEYREALARGELASERSAAAAAAAAARGH. Or, you could color your ML to red, so that people mistake them for SL while in close combat. :P

Although it nauseates me to agree with you....absolutely, but not for the reasons I suspect you think it's a good idea.

I think it's a good idea because the guys over at Smurfy seem to be more "on the ball" than PGI. Give the Smurfy guys access to the base code and let them do their thing.....they've proven to be FAR more competent than the PGI guys. ^_^

Or just contract Smurfy, pay him to integrate his Smurfy Mechlab with your database, copy-paste Smurfy Mechlab over MWOmercs.com. Log in, play with your mechs in that gorgeous interace and have everything ready when you log in to your game.

I don't think that's too much to ask, and is entirely doable.

I agree with your first statement.

However, I don't think we should be able to buy custom designed 'Mechs from out of the store (Assuming i interpreted that correctly) using Smurfy links.
Otherwise i could build a valid Atlas loadout using small lasers, SHS and a tiny cheap engine, and buy said Atlas for next to nothing.
It's just open to fudging with buy prices is all.

i might be alone in it, but i hate the Smurfy interface.

It makes too much sense to have PGI implement it. Ain't that a shame?
