With all the speculation as to how enormously potent these invaders weapons and speed will be, what Mech & load out will you be bringing to oppose them?

What balance of weight, speed & weaponry seems the most likely to effectively defend our worlds against them?

Even though I realize many if not most players will initially try the clan mechs, especially once they can be bought aside from package deals, some of us must stand in the breach!

What builds do you suppose will be best prepared for the war that is to come?

My Victor will do it's best!

Medium lasers will continue to be the most efficient tonne per heat per dmg weapon in the game. Load those and something else you can fit and you should be ok.

I am preaty certan that "Stiner Recon Lances" with a AS7-DDC and HGN-733C will be effective enough when "properly" employed.

Also it is uncertan how much "better" will the Clan equpment will be, in relation to IS counter parts. At that point you should be placing emphasis on tactics* and not quipment.

* Aim for the cockpit or rear armor!

Neput, just an fyi, we armor are backs with a lot more armor than most inner sphere pilots. Expect treachery and deceit from every angle is something us clanners have found out from the unhonorable pilots of the inner sphere.

On another note, equipment probably won't change, its not like we are getting canonical clan tech......

If I remember correctly the Clans, before the invasion would never shoot a mech in the back, nor would they even dream that anyone would. It wasn't until they invaded that they realized the Inner sphere would do anything to survive against their opponents. But meh I don't have my Blood of Kerensky books with me at the moment so I could be wrong.

And I plan to use my Jager to its full sniping potential when the Clans finally come.

Side note, I really wish PGI had announced the clans with a more theatrical touch, but oh well lets not open that can of worms in this thread too.

For certain the wolves had no problem punishing any pilot that allowed a backshot. I think the smoked jags & the budgies may have followed Zellbrigen to the extent that a backshot was dishonourable.

Funny thing is, as far as faction choices go when the Clan mechs turn up we are all still oficially either Freelancers or belong to an inner sphere faction. The option has not turned up yet to choose a clan faction in-game. People have delclared for factions and play them "out-game", but I would like to see clanner faction choices in game. For now the whole faction choice thing is as useful as nipples on a breat plate, but it would still be nice to be able to see clan affilation in the ready screen allong side IS factions. But, I diverge.

My Jäger's will stand in the breech allong side my Jenners. =)

Yeah right Neput Z34, there's nothing to say against a well trained Steiner Scout Lance  ! And regarding the Clans, I'm very excited what will come to us...

Well its sounding more and more that the drops are simply going to be 12 v 12 with no distinction on Omnimech or Battlemech when the match is formed.

If that does turn out to be the case, then it really does not matter beyond "effective" in how you build/equip your Battlemech.

I don't see how they cant create omni weapons. For most clan mechs to work they need the reduced weapon weight. Pulse laser where only truly effective in the omni version due to the reduced heat output. They could counter this by introducing a clan double heat sink as an upgrade option. Many IS mechs only came to be because of the clan tech acquired in battle. The katana was only created because Karuta captured a Dashi and where able to take advantage of the technology. Clan invasion needs to represent a change in combat itself. Not to nay say but I think they are pushing Clan mechs too soon. They haven't even full filled on the promise to create an ecosystem and grouping around factions let alone introduce a whole piece of lore. I see this as a cash grab. It seems when I play I see the same 30 people online and no one else. I hope it brings people back to the game but it worries me that it might be a desperation move to get a fast influx of cash. In what other games would some one pay $240 to have access to an entire portion of the game. Most DLC only runs $15 and you get about 4 a year. That is $60. I would rather see this sold a a tripple A title on PC and Game consoles than feel I need to drop a ton of cash for the latest and greatest.

I'm mastering my three Wolverines for their philosophical slap in the face to the Clans. It will be even better if PGI decides to incorporate melee combat upon unleashing our trashborn companions from beyond the periphery.
