Before the patch:

AMS Effective Range: 90m
AMS Max Range: 200m

After:

AMS Effective Range: 120m
AMS Max Range: 240m

The AMS Range 2 module adds 8 and 16 meters to the ranges, respectively.

Before the patch, this increased the ranges of AMS by 8.8 and 8 percent, respectively. Now it increases both by 6.6 percent.

Even if LRMs had been left alone, this would have made the module a smaller piece of the missile-shooting pie and less appealing. But LRMs weren't left alone; they got a 69% speed boost.

The AMS fires 30 times per second (once every 0.033 seconds), and it takes 9 shots to destroy a missile (according to the wiki). With LRMs traveling at 175m per second and assuming you are standing still, they will be within that 16-meter bubble for 0.09 seconds, giving the AMS time to fire two extra times. Enough to destroy 0.22 missiles with the module.

If you are running away at 171 kph (47.5 meters per second), your window goes up to 0.125 seconds, which will let you fire one more time than had you been standing still. Enough to destroy 0.33 missiles with the module.

Actually I have no idea the difference between effective and max range for it. Half damage? It could be that the module is even less useful.
