Is that you can't pick your mech based on what map you're playing. I think the most ******* frustrating thing about playing this game is that you NEVER know what map you will play and as such, you never know what kind of mech you should play. This shit basically ruins any incentive to play specialized mechs, because you know the minute you load up a Brawler with an effective range of around 300m, you'll get Alpine Peaks 5 times in a row and never want to play that build again.
The only builds that don't really suffer from this are AC5/AC2/LL/PPC builds that are effective at almost any range (90m minimum range can be worked around, 180m can't) and lights that can close distance really quickly and are small targets.
Please figure out a way to let players swap mechs during the startup period after landing on a map, it would make many more builds viable and would make playing matchmaking way less infuriating.

Yeah, it's not like you're not aware ahead of time what the ground is like before you leave to drop onto a planet. I'd at the least like to be able to set camouflage saved custom to each map so they load automagically with my mech at drop time. It's less of a gripe, and more of a function of a quality developed game to have such a capability, even if the automated match maker is going to forever feed us PUGs and surprise us with the map.
After all, the camo the maps use is customized, so shouldn't my mech have the same opportunity?

I agree. Map slecting options or mech selecting options would be very nice.

It would emphisize specialization even more. Which, would thrill the Min/Max people and the ones that like to take advantage of that specialization.
Imagin what would happen when Alpine Peaks comes up. Most would specialize for long range, as some would pick a Braler, so they can Nom Nom the long range people.
Personal, I prefer to keep it random. It gives a reason to be ready for anything and keeps things from getting dull.

For all the heat maps, all you would see are AC/LRM builds. For the cold maps you'd see AC/PPC builds. It would lead to more build homogenization.

The real problem is pinpoint damage. Anything else is secondary.

It's coming. April 29th with the Launch Module. Click on Public Matches and you will see there is a map voting procedure planned.
