hard to score well...when absolutely none of your shots register

against a hunchie with yellow internal CT.... hit it with 3 LB-10x shots and 6 MLs...and his CT went...well..nowhere...it stayed yellow internals...

sigh...team was up 3-0 on frozen city night...

then, suddenly, 11 teammates turned to chase a huggin....WTF??

I died in my adder trying to stop the enemy from pushing... then spectated an atlas.... this atlas, wow...he killed that crashed dropship about a dozen times.... while never scratching an enemy...

You know, it's funny, because I thought the Kuritan one was good...

But, this was, of course, right after I listened to the Davion one, and since that one made me feel all like...

It COULD be that my frame of reference was a little bit confused when it came to comparisons. :P

I don't think I've ever seen someone call someone else an "LRM n00b", that HASN'T just been killed by LRMs immediately before that.

had a new one yesterday. in my cent ah (cause the extra 50k/qualifying match) in crimson straits. usual tunnel bottleneck peek and shoot. i go out the side passage and sneak along between the hill and the ramp. alpha the stalker holding fort from the enemy. first one takes out the side, second one kills him. his comment "AC20noob". mind you he was in a stalker, with lrms (though admittedly did have lasers as well), UNDER the platform fighting people in the tunnel for peak weapon effectiveness.

so if lrms are for noobs
streaks are for noobs
machine guns are for noobs
flamers are for noobs
LBX are for noobs
laser boating is for noobs
now ac20s are for noobs (does this disqualify all ballistics too?)

are there any acceptable non-noob weapons in the game?
do we all have to use gauss rifles and srms only now?

Did the Highlanders as my first assault. Not bad machines but slow unless you upgrade their engines (which I never did!). Mastered them out and still run my HM occasionally. JJ's are nice to get over those pesky objects that get in your way.

Well, to be fair, last night I was feeling a bit put off by the guy I'd just witnessed, going all "1337 g4m3r sk1Lz" on a guy who had just killed him with LRMs, and may have ended up phrasing that in the "language of his people". ;)

But, having spent a considerable amount of time on both ends of the LRM warhead, I can speak with authority that it is terribly easy to avoid being killed by LRMs in general. ESPECIALLY if you are in a light mech, as was this "gentle soul" (who was in a Commando). I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've been killed by LRMs in a Light, and I'm far from the best Light pilot out there.

And to blame my LRM deaths on the person using the LRMs seems, I don't know, an exercise in self-aggravation. :P

Seriously. So, so seriously.

"Streaks on a Stormcrow? StreakNOOB!"

So you don't put Streaks on your Stormcrow, and the next battle there's someone saying...

"No Streaks on your Stormcrow? lrn2playNOOB!".

So terribly wearying, so I generally just try to ignore the sods to the best of my ability. Every once in awhile (like last night) one of them slips through my defenses. :D

*Edited to add, and of course, who doesn't fear the Dreaded "GausSRM" build?

Until someone tells you "short range with long range? lrn2loadoutNOOB!"

its a lot of fun as long as you forget LRMs.

The Bog, everyone starts moving towards C4 except a Crab. He goes in the opposite direction straight at me and we do a head on collision at low speed. He doesn't attemt to avoid it and afterwards he doesn't try to rotate his mech out of the way. At this point I am thinking that maybe he got disconnected or had to deal with RL things. I try top step around him but then he rotates his mech to block me. This goes on for a couple of times until I floor it and run around him in a wide circle to join the battle.

I look at the map and he keeps moving in the wrong direction. After some fighting I call up the map and sure enough he is standing still at the back of the area. I comment that our Crab isn't very helpful.

Then he comes alive.

-You are a kill stealer

-You got no skill

-You are lucky we can't target teammates (he doesn't seem to understand that we can still shoot them)

I'm in a Raven 2X, "kill stealing" is what Corvus Corax do. Does he expect me to stand still in front of a Dakka Wolf and trade ***** slaps until the DW vanishes in a fireball?

I didn't even remember him from earlier matches.

What kind of people are these and what is their problem?

We'll agree to disagree there then old fruit. I die VERY rarely to lrms but my opinion of them differs somewhat to yours-and I use them A LOT.

MGs. You are not a noob if you can kill with MGs.

My 6mg KGC begs to differ. ;) Killed a Timberwolf once with MGs only. It was bizarre and took forever.

Cheers to that. And I mean, we can still agree that, hey, our Faction Warhorns MIGHT need a little work still. ;)

I will say, I don't really play Assaults, and when I do play my LRM boats, finding a lone Assault in open terrain feels like Thanksgiving feast, especially when it's a Daishi, King Crab or Atlas. My brother, who does play Assaults, tells me that LRMs are his worst nightmare more or less. So a big part of our experience and feelings on the issue, really could be all about our playstyles and mech preferences. :)
