I remember those days - I especially remember when they buffed them so heavily that they were just OP in the traditional sense.

What you described is pretty much what's happening now and I wonder, why are we repeating this?

Oh and re:AMS; They're garbage. My Jester carries Two with 2k shots. LRMs tore me apart even when behind cover due to being tagged so many times when I wanted to make myself useful with my JJ & PPCs.

Well, you cant walk out of cover in the PPC and AC/5 Meta as well... I honestly do not see the difference, Brawling was rare before, it is not better now, but it is certainly not worse. LRMs were a waste before, now they are worth their at least 10 tons (LRM15+Ammo), for 20 tons (2 x LRM 15 + some ammo) you can get 2 PPCs + some ammo for your AC, people just use LRMs now instead of Jump Snipers.

Nope. Its pretty cut and dry. Reason one is your fault. Reason two is someone else. cant be much clearer than that.
And as for cover, well i disagree

Cover is that same cover as before...evidently people that weren't good at using cover then are not good at it now. Killed about 8 mechs in my first hour of play on this new patch...all with LRMs. Died 4 times...all to direct fire or brawler rushes.

People need to lrn2cover lol.

What? You think AMS is some sort of all encompassing invisible shield??? 1-2 AMS, you might get half the missiles per volley. You STILL need to learn to use cover.

We're at Lesson 2. Waiting for Lesson 3 to begin.

Sigh... Then it would just be best to stay in cover at all times. Doesn't that just indicate the game has changed to MechCoverOnline?

Doesn't that also indicate that ranged weapons are the only viable weapons now?

I shouldn't expect more from single track minded individuals, yet I do anyway.

What do you think this is? NapoleonicWarrior Online where mechs all stand in a firing line 100 meters apart and shoot each other??? Stupid mech pilots don't use cover, concealment or strategy. They just scream "Mech Smash" and go charging right at the nearest mech and hope it's an atlas.

This isn't Mortal Mechcombat where he who button mashes fastest or knows the cheat code wins.

Cover has always been important...even way back in the days of the Gausscat.

Blame PGI for leaving brawling and SRMs like this for the longest time. No idea why it took them 9 months or whatever to address PPC heat...ghost heat could have been avoided altogether.

Use airstrikes to scatter people and fast brawlers to move in...have you seen what these lights are doing out there?

I'm a light pilot - I seem to be topping damage in most matches. These days I'm finding that I need to stick under cover for the entirety of the match waiting for the scales to tip.

Last match I just played was 1039 damage from a missleboat stalker. At the moment it is just a little bit silly - and the game play is just awful.

I agree with you on the PPC heat and PGI leaving things for too long. Bit hard NOt to agree with that.

So as a light pilot what I'm finding that needs to be done is to snuff out the boats, but because most of them hide in the ECM bubble, you can't really have some time alone with them. It's really unbalanced, sadly.

NARC the D-DC that's providing cover. Or get better with PPCs to disrupt ECM. Rock, paper, scissors...

Sounds like you had a fun match.

Sounds like they thought about it instead of crying about it.

Look, I'm one of those guys that rains missiles on people- before the patch and after.

I will tell you this. LRMs are effective because they're 1) being lobbed in mass quantity and 2) More people are picking to boat LRMs than picking up AMS. The difference is that speed is no longer missile immunity due to higher accuracy. Smart scouts were detouring as soon as I lit them up. Dumb ones were relying on old tactics and eating hits for it.

And for the record, I can usually kill heavies with the amount of ammo it takes to maim a Firestarter. If it's one of the dual AMS ones, I've killed assaults with less missiles. Even post-patch, you're an ammo sink I have to pour into because otherwise, have a scout inside my minimums and he didn't bring any lube for the imminent reamjob I am about to receive.

Just wanted to borrow this thread to say: mother of ****, there is some terrible posting happening around this patch.

Forecast for Ktown calls for heavy rains and possible flash flooding.

Close range weapons just became useless.

lol yea because a slight increase in LRM flight speed somehow rendered other weapons useless. That speed buff sure did manage to change how my other weapons work....
