They changed LRMs to the correct speed in my honest opinion. I almost never run strictly LRM boats, but let us all be totally honest here people... whenever there is a slight change in a weapon (ESPECIALLY missiles) then EVERYONE(almost) loads up on them to see their potential. This is the MIN/MAX build idea that has revolved around this game for a very long time. People cry about Meta PPC/AC5 pop tarts. Then cry about LRMs. Then about SRMs. (Well maybe not SRMs... except that THEY STILL HAVEN'T BEEN FIXED AND IT'S BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR FFS)

...ok... that was my "QQ" about weapons... SRMs. I know there are issues with hit detection so that has resulted in nothing done to the SRMs. But I digress...

I urge PGI to leave LRMs the way they are at least for a time. Allow the change to really sink in. How long did it take for you guys to adjust PPCs and JJs when everyone was upset about pop tarts? Months! And even now they are still in game... and rightfully so! There are ways to adapt to pop tarts. To an entire team of them? No... of course not.... but then again there is very little that can be done about countering ANY "accidental" sync drop when you are pugging away. Weapon balancing really isn't horrible here... the matchmaking is the problem. If teams are playing teams or pugs are playing pugs I see some excellent games.

Perhaps the best overall solution is to work harder and faster towards the balancing of the matchmaking instead of the individual weapons and their effects. Line up groups VS each other IE drop groups of 4 MUST have a 4 man on the other side. Total weight should also be considered. I've seen matches get close... but also seen matches where one team has 3 Assaults and the other 5-9.... matches where everyone on one team is a lone wolf and the other has a premade 4 or and "accidental 3...2...1.... DROP" sync.... don't say you don't do it because anyone in a guild has done this before. With the intent to be on the same team or opposing is not relevant. Fact is everyone has tried it on.

Regardless of what is done with any single weapon system in game, there will ALWAYS be a way to pinpoint damage with maximum efficiency that someone will consider "OP". Work more on balancing out the teams (since ELO matching has always been "broken") and you may find LRMs and "meta" builds far more tolerable.

SRMs are supposed to get a fix in the April patch where they readdress HSR. SO, hopefully, we'll see a lot of different weapons running around.

As to LRMs, the speed didn't really do anything to them other than make them slightly more dependable at long range. Cause, you know, they are LONG ranged missiles and not THEY HAVE A LONG RANGE BUT ARE ONLY OK WITHIN 500M ranged missiles. People are just pissy cause everyone is tossing them out right now. Why wouldn't we? It isn't the Md Laser boated Light or the PPC/AC Heavy or Assault mech meta that everyone has been playing. The damage is the same, the heat is the same, and the range is the same. But, instead of taking 8.5s to go from 0-1000m, it now only takes 5.7s. Yes, that is effective but 6s, on top of the 1.5-4s to acquire lock, is more than enough time to get under cover unless you made a HORRIBLE mistake.

Here is hoping that SRMs do get some love in April and that PGI is smart enough to let the LRMs settle for a while.
