The VA can do ac20 + 4 streaks, or a decent lrm boat.
The V can do 2 ac5 + 2 ppc for a bit of meta.
The K works decent with 4 ppc or 2 ppc + 1 erpcc or 4 llas, because they are all arm mounted.
At least thats what i did with them

ON1-KStandard engine, AC20 brawler, with a couple LRM5s for shooting stuff at range.
It does run a little hot but the 325 engine makes it quick enough to bring the main firepower into range. A definite improvement over my previous, but similar build, that used a STD300.

My fave Orion is a rather oddball build.
ON1-VA
if one prefers standard engines, then drop in a 300 std. But cruising 80 kph gives this some serious strike capability, and even with GH, it stays very cool with minimal effort. I have my highest scoring game ever in this guy, as well as over a dozen 800+ damage matches, and four 1000+ damage matches. And that is in the 50 games I have run it in this config.
http://i290.photobuc...9_59_21_622.png I've had a couple of matches with 8 kills, and one or 2 with higher (barely) damage, but this is the highest matchscore for me.
Alternately, for taking advantage of the current Meta, my original build
ON1-VA
chainfire the lrms and watch them panic. Plus the Orion can achieve better fire angle trajectories for it's lrms than any other mech, as I regularly fire them in canyon network and easily clear the walls.

Ahhem broken link Ahhem.
Also it's seriously making me laugh that my firestarter is soooo close to beating your score for the VA.

I use the K as a solid beefy brawler (AC20 / 2 mediums / 2 larges)
Frankly - with a combination of the Victor being nerfed and incoming class restrictions - I think that the meta will shift so that the Orion goes from decent to very solid.
It always feels like it wants to overpower other mechs - but with all the assaults out there - it can't. With class restrictions - for the most part it will.

My VA is my LRM version. My M turned into an AC/20, 3x ML, 3x SSRM2 mech. Basically the brawler.

The Awesome and Catapult pretty much fire their LRMs straight up when they come out. The Stalkers go out and then up. The Orion seems to go up more as well which is why they clear.

Std 300
AC20
2LL on left arm
2ML on right arm.
48 point alpha with 14 DHS she's got a 1.22 heat management. Excellent survivability with a STD engine and a lot of firepower left if you lose either torso - the twin LLs are on the opposite side as the AC. Fast weapon recycle in good stages; you pop an alpha, fire MLs, by the time they're done shooting your LLs are cycled, as they're finishing the AC20 is cycled. It's a good combo chain for chewing people up and it's all terribly accurate. If you're good with a torso AC20 then she's a very accurate, very dangerous girl.
It's a rock solid performer for me that crushes hopes and dreams within 300m and delivers the pain out to 800m.

61 kph with 2 lb 10x's
3 srm 4's
2 medium lasers
13 doubles
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...df9f4e14860fe7c
Drop the engine to a standard 250 for another tonn - possibly another heatsink
or change a Srm 4 to a Srm 2 for a another tonn
or the 1 er large laser , 1 large pulse laser , lrm 35 artemis orion but beware XL so stay back a bit
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...fbc33f7395076dc
surprisingly the pulse laser was pretty helpful for brawler later into the game or legging lights
Drop the pulse laser for more tonnge and armor if you prefer two er large
or Drop a lrm 15 to a lrm 10 for 2 more tonns
1 tonn more ammo and armor with the large pulse laser still intact - changed lrm 15 to 10
