The base xp you get on the mech you use is normal, if you have 2 other variants for example each get a percentage of the base xp you gain from the mech you used. If the variant is champion you own the xp boost still in effect but only get the percentage of the base xp from the mech used even that you did not use the champion mech. Grinding C-bills is tedious enough and xp gain varies but having a bleed over xp on mech variants at small percentage seems reasonable.

Not gonna happen for a different reason.

You wouldn't need to play differrent variants anymore. having them sitting idle in the hangar is enough. Just play one mech until it has accumulated enough xp-bleed to activate the skills of the others.

Next step would be do remove the need for different variants completly.

well actually - we have that allready - we have MechXP and GXP - the later can be used to unlock skills on other mechs as well as long as the players owns them - in theory a player would not need to play a 2nd and 3rd chasi ever if he only wants to master them and plays his primary very often.

Apart from that there is the possibility to transfer MechXP into GXP for MC which gives people the chance to speed up mastering mechs if they are willing to pay for it. I actually really like this option because its completly in line with good F2P as it should be (means players can level faster but don't gain advantages over players who choose to grind instead).

In theory, yes, we have that already! Kinda defeats my own argument. :P

But... (you knew this was coming, didn't you?) right now GXP (5 % of total XP earned) is usable for mech skills on all mechs in the hangar and for modules. With the bleed you don't need to worry about spending GXP on mech skills anymore (I know, it's frowned upon anyhow). GXP becomes module XP because nobody will need their "general" quality anymore. Even with only the 5 % bleed per variant, the bonus XP suddenly triplicates.

No, I really don't believe this would be a good addition to the game.

As much as I like your idea, I still like the way XP is handled currently.

feedback fully accepted.

Just a thought so you do not have to spend MC to convert mech xp to gxp, not alot of players out there that can always afford MC. speaking out for those who try to not spend alot of real monies just to get MC for items/mechs/cbills/mech xp conversion.

another strong point is you still need to 2 other variations to get elite mastery abilities such as speed tweak which can be useful to speed up your mech and rapid fire on top of that you can get 2x bonus with basic abilities, yes there is a shortcut for that but it cost mc to get them and mc cost real money. its so impractical to say the additional abilities have no worth. These additional abilities does not give a new player an edge what so ever, once they work hard enough to get 3 variations of the same mech, still boils down how a mech is piloted.

I think the way Xp works is fine... once they include Mastery rank/Level etc that reflects how much OVERALL experience you have then it would make sense, because yes I agree it seems like it gets wasted (unless you convert to GXP).

But I think these things will come... just hopefully sooner rather than later.

It also forces you to use various mechs instead of just the one, which I think is a good thing.

Also, the upgrades should make a difference, and getting an edge isn't necessarily a bad thing... but I think piloting skills, and experience is worth more. I'm not asking for balance, but it has to be interesting and fun right?
