Just a trial with new LRM mechanics....

1) Grab 3 friends & drop in Stalker LRM boats
2) Tell your team to defend the base only (stay with turrets).
2.1) Fire LRMS at same target (get other LRM boats who drop to do same)
3) WIN.
4) Sure its boring but for outright winning cant be beaten

15 Matches played
15 Wins
0 Personal deaths
Personal kills 42 (im no LRM player so teammates did better)
Most mechs killed on whole team 2

This only works if you would rather win than have fun and it won't make you any friends lol.

This is why as a light player I will never log onto assault. My scissor (light) cannot cut your paper (LRM boat's rear) if your rear is covered by 3-4 turrents.

Ya I see where he is coming from, assault does need to be redesigned, at first I loved the idea of turrets, but they take way too much time to kill making it hard to advance. I was in an atlas and was with another person and taking out 1 turret took waaaaay too long

heck no. that is imcredibly boring. I had a game like that in HPG manifold where some dummy said to camp the base turrets when i was in my dakka muromets, to which i replied "FK CAMPING" and proceeded to murder 5 mechs @ around 650 damage, 2 of those i did legged. We won, only losing 2 mechs, me being one of them.

I play to wreck face and kill crap, not to sit in base turrets all freaking game. if you want to camp go play world of tanks.

You just described much of the upper ELO.

and on a few select maps like river city and canyon network. Allt he others have enough open lanes of fire, that smart players will counter you by sitting out past 1000 meters and slowly picking you apart with Gauss, ACC, PPC and ER Large Laser fire.

But then, Ace doesn't actually have a legit point he is trying to make, this is just a continuation of his general LRM QQ, again showing his inability to think beyond "LRMS OHMAHGERD!!!!!". Cry Harder, and all that.

if you are going to "FTFY" would you please for petes sake, fix the egregious spelling? Turrents"? REALLY!?!?!?!

this I would agree with to the basic mentality. I find very few of the Upper Elo leaning on the LRM crutch though. The tend to still prefer poptarts, which can still easily defeat this tactic.

This is why turrets should have never been placed in the small maps

Nobody with an ounce of common sense will disagree with you, that OP suggestion of playing is dull, boring, uncreative, utterly breaks the spirit of the game.

I think the OP is trying to point out that, its a method of play that breaks the game and needs fixing, least that's what I'm hoping, this is about.

its yet another example of boating weapons, can make this game crap, and until its stopped by PGI which will only happen if they seriously control what can be placed on each mech in turn.

Ghost heat has not stopped boating, only a robust rebuild of the custom system will ever stop meta's becoming overwhelming.

The latest LRM buff caused QQ not because of the buff but because of the over whelming numbers of launchers that were in a single match.

This was I think proven in my opinion by Paul's comment that the lower ELO players adapted to the lrm buff better than higher.

As he didn't elaborate on how people adapted one can only surmise that the lower elo players jumped on easy street quicker and filled mechs with lurms faster than those that can shoot straighter, and that the lower end were grabbing ams buff modules

I'm pretty sure that is only a viable tactic in less coordinated games - its costly but its possible to make a charge over open ground to get close... and C Stalkers at short range crossfire die fast - really fast...
all that is necessary is guys that know - when its time to leave cover and charge in to the mouth of hell....and glory the only gain

Agreed, but very few people are prepaired to be the sacrific for the team, most are more intrested in their kill rate.

Sadly is a big gulf between whats correct and what people do

Breakthrough and "Exploit" the LRM Stalkers explosive side torso = you can sacrifice your self (you hardly made it back) and you can increase your Kill Rating
