I've heard this talked about by the devs, saying something along the lines of "founder mechs are the prime variants in the tech tree, allowing you to advance down that path"
But what does that even mean?

Can someone explain to me what these tech trees are?

I would guess those that can have an NDA
You'll have to wait till Aug like me

I would assume it is something like WoT
You gave the base mech but you have to research with XP the other goodies
Which is why it is not OP and all it really does is give us a leg up now
In a few months everyone will have what they like and it won't matter that I got mine now

From the Dev Blog #3
http://mwomercs.com/...3-role-warfare/

Quote

After each match XP is stored in the last BattleMech used. This pool of XP can be spent on BattleMech efficiencies. Each BattleMech chassis has its own pool of XP and custom Tech Tree. At certain branch points in the BattleMech Tech Tree, a Pilot Point is awarded to the player.
Each branch under the BattleMech’s Tech Tree represents attributes that fall into the Role Categories described earlier on.

Thanks for posting an idea of what the tech trees may look like. I play WoT as well and am looking very forward to this.

The problem is that out of context, those charts may as well be written in crayons about My Little Brony Online. =/

In the example mech trees posted above, where would the "Prime Variant" fit in?

The prime variant would be Variant A. They have said the number of variants will vary from chassi to chassi. And as u can see from the chart, the more variants, the larger bonus u get for hitting Elite 1, Elite 2, etc.

Though of corse all this could change during testing.

why cant it be like before that as long as u have three mechs in that weight class you could go in to elite them get the module?

now i have to buy three mechs of each type in order to do this. i just need the ones that work for me in each weight class not all of them for each one.

what i mean is that i have a good set up for a hunchback and i have a centurion and a cicada that i use so i got three of them why can it not count i am just saying i wish it would do it like before with this but it is what ever they want i guess ill have to suck it up and just play my heart out. guess it is there way of making the game just that bit harder for every one.
