Davion Rank 5

Misery - 1xAC20 1xPPC 2xLL AMS STD300

Matches 118, Wins 69, Losses 49, W/L 1.4, Kills 162, Deaths 64, K/D 2.53, Damage 50850

It was extremely challenging because nearly every match I played would have at least 2-3 of the #1 or #2 players from each faction (one of whom kept calling me fat!). It was also thoroughly enjoyable to play with the best of the best. Even more enjoyable each time I shoved my AC20 up their butt! (though more often I was the one dead)

Playing against those good players so often makes you really appreciate the rare good games that happen for any single individual. When these tournaments occur, my matches feel, "properly" matched by the matchmaker and I love it. I play against many other players of similar skill and the matches are close and very punishing for those who make a mistake.

And who would dare call you fat Flyby? Such a shame, give me his name and I'll beat him up for you! :)

Anyways, My builds and match scores:

I'll update it after I double check through my smurfy's builds and include links to them, but for the time being I'll just summarize.

Ranked #1 Merc Corps Faction, #3 Overall - Score: 2,573

HGN-733C - STD300, 2xPPC 2xUAC5, 1JJ, 4 tons of Ammo. 1.49 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 5 kills 7 assists 989 dmg on HPG Manifold

VTR-9B - XL325, 2xPPC 2xUAC5, 1JJ, 5 tons of Ammo. 1.45 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 5 kills 7 assists 1500 dmg on HPG Manifold

VTR-DS - XL350, 2xPPC 2xAC5, 1JJ, 4 tons of Ammo, 1.49 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 6 kills 6 assists 1289 dmg on Terra Therma

CTF-3D - XL280, 2xPPC 2xAC5, 1JJ, 4 tons of Ammo, 1.42 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 5 kills 7 assists 1282 dmg on Forest Colony

CTF-IM - XL295, 3xML 3xUAC5s, 7 tons of Ammo, 1.37 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 5 kills 7 assists 1282 dmg on Tourmaline Desert

JR7-F - XL300, 6xML, 1JJ, 1.29 Heat Efficiency
Best Game: 7 kills 4 assists 1144 dmg on Canyon Network

These are from memory (I have videos saved). The numbers are mostly accurate, and I'll link my twitch highlight videos for the, "best game" category.

Hello everyone

I only played with an STK-M in this tournament, score 2225 and 10th for Marik.i was actually 6th and went to sleep. luckily i was still in top10.wanted to see how well this misery build can do.. I did play 3-4 games with an lrm stalker to test lrms.

games in tournament around 160. during the tournament W/L ratio about 1.45, k/d ratio around 2.2 (can't be 100% sure, played a lot before and after too but it's as close as it can get.)
ok.. so my build was, 2LL,3ML,ac20,lrm10 std255 but after a while in the tournament i changed it to 2LL,3ML,AC20,lrm5. STD275, 18DHS. (needed that extra little speed, plus a bit of extra heat diss.)

I had so much trouble getting kills.everyone was going like crazy after them! I had the highest dmg in team in more than half of my games but few kills. I had so many games with dmg over 800-900 and zero kills.lots of 1000+ with 1 or 2 kills. it was so frustrating  (slow mech, low range) pre-tournament i was getting many 5-kills 800-1000+ dmg. in tournament almost nothing!
best game kill-wise was one with 8kills. the very first game(and the last one) i literaly waited for my pugs to die before i went out shooting. talk about luck,it worked, but only did like 500-600 dmg and no assists i think, so it was still a not that good score.but it was an epic game. i was so excited with 8kills that i forgot to take a screenshot though lol.

Anyway,in my experience a faster medium-long range mech had a much higher chance to score real good scores.both in terms of kills and dmg. others used short range KS lights. My cicada-3M for example has a much higher average dmg than the Misery with just 2ER LL..(no wonder ppc/ac5 does that well). And my personal opinion is that if -for tournament purposes- a good pilot wanted to take his time using those last minutes to take the enemy down one by one long range, he would get top5 easily. I btw never did that, i always brawl and die if i'm last with a fast mech. I did not play a fast mech in the tournament on the other hand. if i did play one i would do that. Just to get the games i need(dead guys can hate you for that.)

I know it may sound weird, like how can a light or medium do better than an assault. but trust me it's the truth. It's not teamplay,it's solo play but it can get serious results. Another option would be to get a meta build like dragonslayer ppc/ac5 and just keep shooting. serious dmg, good kills.

Lastly i would like to add what many of us know. Sometimes it's more about the pilot than the mech.

Davion 3rd

Banshee 3E "Howling Banshee" (2x UAC5, 2x AC2, 4x MLas, STD300)
-Mech ran pretty hot, but heat management was not very difficult. After the tournament I started running a STD325 and regular AC5s. This change runs much cooler and is a lot more consistent. I believe that 2 AC5 and 2 AC2 is a superior load-out for this mech.

Firebrand "Light Eater" (1x AC20, 1x LB10X, 4x MLas, XL300)
-Fragile brawler well suited for taking out lights and mediums, but can still hold it's own against heavies and even assaults. Keep moving and torso twisting. Always shoot the AC20 first followed by 1-2 shots with the LB10X. The build only has 2 tons of LB10X ammo and 3 tons of AC20. I have found this to be a perfectly adequate amount of ammo to last a match with well-placed shots. You can still clean up a match since you have 4 MLas to fall back on when ammo runs dry.

Raven "Super Chicken" (2x ERLLas, ECM, XL255)
-Personal preference to sacrifice a little speed for a couple more Double Heat Sinks. The success of this build depends on how long you can keep firing from range until you get close to over-heat. The extra DHS keeps the mech firing longer which means more damage potential. Most people know this mech and see it frequently so there is not much else to say.

Congrats to all the others!
