Just getting too frustrated on such weekends to enjoy playing. Guess I'm not made for all these really chaotic pug matches filled meta players where you have to be lucky, have patience, game the system, and play alot to get all this lined up perfectly.

All builds are meta builds, its the game within the game... Just some are more popular then others.

If you are referring to the 12v12 tournament, i know someone whos participating and he told me the first round was dominated by PPC/AC boats (not necessarily poptarts). One match had 10 jagermechs i believe? I think that says a lot.
If everything is a meta build, then nothing is a meta build.
Having 10 Jagermechs doesn't say anything, other than you can win (or lose in their case) with any build and drop deck. That means weapon balance is (respectively) in a pretty good place. We had brawler builds win, poptarts win, teams with LRMs win, etc. That is good.
Ultimately, what it comes down to is tactics and skill, and that, really, is the perfect example of balanced weapons.

Now, now, Jun, Smegler is right in the fact that you can run metabuild. Does PGI allow this? Unfortunately yes. Does it channel the the spirit, as the advert says top left as you scroll up, "Mechwarrior online, a battletech game".
Unfortunately no.
If you watched Smeg's videos, (I could only watch one as he is just a hideous looking chud), you will see the secret to his "meta game" is 2 x AC 5, 2 x PPC, artillery strike and pop tarting.
Is this mechwarrior online today? Unfortunately yes. Is this in the spirit of the battletech game on which it's based? Of course not.
The victor as an example has an AC20, srm 4, and 2 x medium lasers as its stock variant. There are other versions available of course but I am unable to find ANY version of an 2 x AC5, 2 x PPC Victor in any battletech field manual from 3025 to 3067. This is also true for Highlander's, Cataphracts, Shadow Hawks etc. You get the picture.
So there are options for PGI to use, one is to remove the battletech tag line because it is not a battletech game. Just have AC5's and PPC's only in the game. Nothing else, and rebrand as "snipe warrior online" or "sort of real tournament warrior online"
OR... the smarter harder option is to have really hard ruled hard points where you can only mount the weapon type based on the battletech lore of that particular variant, and then if you want to upgrade you will have to pay a lot of XP.
eg With my 2312000 Mech XP on my Atlas DDC say I wanted to break Atlas battletech lore and instead of mounting an AC20 or Gauss I want to mount 2 x Ultra AC5's, I would have to pay 500000 Mech XP for each Ultra AC5, and then, (your gonna love this) if my battlemech gets destroyed in battle I will have to start over Dark Souls style and earn another million mech xp to rebuild and modify a new stock frame.
It would bring instant balance, long time players would learn to look after their meta builds, and if lost, force them to adapt and think about tactics, teamwork, communication, and make the best with what's available, and gosh darn it, it might lead to some challenging fun and intense games.

PGI hosts *a tournament* and people complain about Metabuilds.
So PGI gives you a team tournament people complain about not having a team and not being in their timezone.
PGI gives you a solo tournament, people complain about not being able to drop in a team.
Perfect excuse for losing.
Oh yea and back to the original thread my best games were:
1. JM6-FB 2xUAC2xLLas 5kills 7 assist 1555 Dmg
2. STK-M 2xPPC 1xAC20 5kills 6assist 1438 Dmg
3. CTF-3D 2xPPC 2xAC5 5kills 6assist 1372 Dmg
4. RVN-3L 2x ERLarge 4kills 7assisst 1155 Dmg
...
Dragonslyer 2xAC5 2xPPC
...
10. HGN 733 1x TAG 4x LRM15 Artemis 4 Kills 7 Assist 1068.
But yea, I see, all meta for you.

I have an idea, why don't you an Jun have a private match 1 vs 1, in stock mechs, no arty, and then if Jun wins he keeps your prizes from the tournament?
Can't be any fairer than that.

I played Dragon Slayers the most. So what, there you go again. Complaining about others winning by abiding to the rules provided.
I was #1 Rasahalgue after 13 games and #1 overall for most of the time after 20 games.
And I started late (12 man tournament match and all on same day)
Also I've seen proton walking around in an brawler Atlas lol, congrats on that 10 kill 2 assist 1700 dmg game man. ;-)

I am not complaining about the winners at all. There you go again, getting all defensive and insecure.
I was number #127 after 10 games in the Steiner team, and that's it. I think I may have dropped to 317 now, but, so what, it's just a game and I had fun running my Atlai, Griffins, and Hunchies.
BTW what page on the battletech field manual is the Dragon Slayer variant of 2 x PPC and 2 x AC5's again?

4 top matches were from Stalker LRM35 boat, with 2880 missiles and 4 mlas.
4 were from Jager DD with 2 AC2, 2AC5 and enough ammo to deal 1500 damage.
2 were also from stalker 5M but with 2 ERLLAS and a Mlas an a million DHS
On a side note stalker is basic because it's the only one I have, and I didn't use any consumable.
Being a relatively new player, started 4 months ago, I think I did pretty good.
Best Match :

The other alive took the DC, or I could have had 6 kills

Is the 4ml, 4mg Ember a metabuild? Not sure if he ran it this tourny but ShinVector said that he ran that last tourny. And in this tourny he took 3rd in Liao, and if I had been Liao I would of been 4th with one less point. (Took 11th in Merc Corps since I was 2 points shy of 10th).

I ran a mix of mechs to not get bored mainly I switched between my Ember with 4MG and 4ML and my Meta Banshee 3E with 2PPCs and 3AC5s.
This was probably my best match with around 264 points. But I had a coupple up there. I was on #3 first, then got pushed down to #4 again and then pulled an all nighter in which I was able to regain #3 again, would have liked to get #2 but couldnt make it.
Normally Im not even that good of a pilot, not bad but usually not up there. MY aim and my reactions could be better, so I had to work with guille.
In the Ember I did a lot of LRM boat hunting, sneaking around in the back and killing singled out enemys before I went into the brawl to pick on some damaged mechs.
In the Banshee I stayed behind a bit, laying down long range support fire, trying to stick to cover and not expose myself too much.
The key was situational awareness, knowing where the enemy is and where he is going to. Also I tried to stay focused and composed, aiming carefully and try to shoot of some components before going for the kill. I especially benefited from long matches where I was able to take my targets apart methodically. Choosing singled out targets first and then going over to the groups.
And of course I threw them strikes like candy.

Totally agree with this. But real BT has a few drawbacks, 1. it doesn't appeal to the FPS players who are not into BT and don't care about stock loadouts in lore. They want to blow stuff up with stompy robots and are willing to pay money. 2. Customization = money or at least more play time to get Cbills. 3. In real BT bigger mechs will almost always defeat smaller mechs. 3/3/3/3 would help with this point though.
I appreciate Eglar for publicizing his stats and for other top players making their builds/videos public.
