Hi all. Sorry if this was somewhere before, didt saw it coz im not often here, on forums.

1stof all - we all know, that for now MWO "a bit" unbalanced - boating is a problem, thneed to be slved. So? im offer to make all hardpoints to have ther "recomended weapons" - like HBK-4G have 1 ballistic (reccomended -ac20|10), 3 beam (recommended - MLs|SLs). Weapon, tat mounted in "reccomended slot" will have its weight cut for 20 to 50% - like "reccomended" ML will be 0.5 ton, "reccomended" ac20 - 11.2 tonns etc. Weight bonus can be changed to internal ammo, loered hat ammount per soot, increased rate of fire. Whole idea will bring us to wery few mechs, specialised as "boats" - like catapults, but still itspossible to make it carry less weapons of same type. Thanks, im done.

I don't like boating. But i think it would need to be heavily discussed what these advantages would be.
Less weight is not a good idea unless it's in smaller amounts. 0.1-0.2 tonn less on an ML if it's in a recommended hardpoint.

One less crit space on an AC20 for example sounds good as well. But since i don't use big guns i shouldn't say anything more because i lack experience with them.

Nice basic idea... I think it can be improved on :)

No on tinkering with the weight ot crit slots, because that will dork up the same stock builds it tries to encourage.

BUUUT: A heat reduction by maybe .5 /1 point or so (possibly weapon specific) could be implemented for weapons that "should" be there, like a Cat`s LRM racks, the MLs of the hunchback, the ac2s of a jäge, ror the 3 ppcs on an awesome. Essentially any weapon that mech had on it when you bought it.

This would have the advantage of making actual stock builds more useful by reducing heat generated, reducing the impact of SHS vs MWO Heatscale, and could open up the door for a viable stock mech mode or community league.

I do however see potential for a potential for a negative impact to the public queue, as certain chassis may start to become mroe or less dominant depending on how far their stock loadout differs from the FoTM or have the best "bonuses"..... I`m not entirely cognizant of how large that impact would be, but I do feel it would be minimal...

How about rather than giving a bonus when fitting a proper weapon(and further increase the already broken power creep of this game) simply give a penalty for NOT fitting a proper weapon.

Want a gauss rifle in a light mech? Prepare to have your shit shut down when you fire. If one of those draws enough power from an atlases core to dim the freaking cockpit light, then it should simply shut down a ravens core. etc....

but again this will stop the "leets" from min/maxing, and force people to win via intelligent planning and teamwork...

So it'll never happen

Not to sound overly critical, but is boating even a problem anymore? The maximum meta alpha these days is 30 points of damage. I just don't see a 30 point alpha being that bad compared to the old days of 45, 50, and even 60 alphas.

I do see problems with weapon imbalance otherwise. For example, nobody uses srm2s. SRM use overall is low just because of hit registration. That problem is getting worked on, and I'd rather have fixed hit registration than be coerced into using broken weapons.

Secondly, I think the "dropship" of the launch module will have a visible impact on the meta. Knowing where you're going to drop next will change the meta to a map-by-map basis. Pop-tarting ppc/ac5 builds aren't the best builds for every map. They're just the best builds for "any" map. Once launch module releases, the meta for canyon network might still be pop tarting, but alpine would probably adjust to favor missiles; terra therma might adjust to a brawling meta.
