I would like to submit an idea for an “In Game Pilot Voice Effect” for Mechwarrior Online. This would give players the ability to send out a preprogrammed voice based sound effect. During “Game Play”, a player would be able to press the F3 key, triggering an audible “pilot voice”.
Within the Mechlab players would be able to “equip” a Mech with a selection of these voice effects from a list which would be divided up into sections. A player would be able to select a sound effect such as a Moris Code signal, a garbled radio message, or a spoken message. All a player would have to do is click on a voice effect, checking a box besides the sound effect.

To use Pilot Voices, a player must first expend XP, just as if they were unlocking a Mech efficiency. Once unlocked, a player can activate a voice effect by pressing F3. This will cause the voice effect to play as if it were being transmitted via a radio signal during a match. The player must spend XP unlocking In Game Voice effects for individual Mechs

For 5,000 XP a player can activate an in game voice effect once per match.
For an additional 10,000 XP a player can activate an in game voice effect twice per match.
For an additional 15,000 XP a player can activate an in game voice effect three times per match.

Note: If a player has been defeated during a match, they will not be able to trigger a voice effect.

The XP Usage Box would be found underneath the current Efficiency Unlocks for a players Mechs. However, this new unlock does not require that the player unlock any efficiency within the efficiency tree before it can be used if he or she has enough XP. Even now, I'm sure there are Mechs out there with plenty of “extra XP”.

Stage 1 (Voice Effects).
In this first stage, players are introduced to in game voice effects, and will be able to select what is said from a list. This generic voice will play a specific “in game” message or sound effect as if it were a radio transmission. These radio signals would be as follows (sample list):

1. An S.O.S. Message in Mores Code
2. A garbled radio transmission
3. Guess who gets to peel potatoes tonight
4. Surrender or be destroyed.
5. Hey Rusty
6. Return fire
7. For twenty C-bills, you’re on.
8. Weapons Free, Weapons Free
9. The sound of machine gun fire accompanied by a scream
10. A diabolical laugh

Voices could be male or female, with assorted regional dialect accents.

Other voices and sound effects could be added as the game grows, including those intended for factions, meaning that you would have to be of a certain faction to gain access to them, or triggered effects. Some of these triggered effects may include “Somebodies going to feel that one in the morning” when a player destroyes a rival Mech, or “Medic” after taking damage. As for House Themes, each faction will receive a selection of House Theme Voice Effects. For example, members of House Steiner will have a Germanic sounding voice effect list, including some German phrases such as “Guten Tag” (meaning Good Day). House Theme voice effects may require an MC or C-Bill purchase to unlock prior to use.

Hopefully I would like to see an expansive list some day with a dozen or so voice related sound effects, a half dozen Morris Code Signals and radio chatters, along with say fifty or sixty various messages (not including House Themes).

Additional messages could be added during later game patches, adding to the in-game pilot voice selections. Some may include simulated transmissions from officers operating within bunkers far removed from the battlefield.
