Scoring high in the tournament doesn't mean your elo is high.
It means you played much, spammed arti every match, and had 10 good matches out of the 200 you played for the weekend.
Since scoring high is not only dependent on your own skill, but also the skill of the guys you play against, the chance of a slightly above medium skill player to do well against medium skill players is just as high as the chance of a high skilled player doing well against above medium skill players.
Heck, a player could be in the lowest bracket of elo hell, still getting the best socre in the tournament. In the country of the blind the one-eyed man is king.
To get into the top ten your average game would have to be something like 6 kills, 6 assists, and 600 damage. That's a good player at any Elo.
My point was on a fairly new account I was seeing people that clearly are better than the average person that has 30 games played. If the MM matches up players of such vastly different skills than why have a MM? All it's doing at this point, supposedly, is matching premade groups with groups of equal size.
